My W123 230e didn't sell

I'm sure that it will make a relaxing change to a Focus ST.

Hello folks!
I am delighted to say that I am the proud new owner of Howards W123. :D (I took your advice Ted, as Im sure you guessed already). :)
It was a long but enjoyable journey up the road yesterday and the car performed faultlessly the whole way through some pretty bad weather and heavy traffic! I had forgotten just how nice and relaxing these cars are to drive and it still amazes me that it was built in '82 with the spec it has and how it drives. ;)
I had a couple of stops for fuel and food and worked out that I averaged 26mpg. Not bad considering it was sitting at an indicated 80 on the speedo which was about 70 on the sat nav.

A big thanks to Howard for picking me up at the airport and being so hospitable. Its refreshing to buy a car from someone as honest and helpful. The car was exactly as described and it really made the whole day go smoothly from start to finish.

I have had nothing but positive experiences since I joined this forum only a couple of weeks ago. A really friendly and helpful site :thumb:

Here are the only pics I managed to take on my camera phone, one from a service station near Birmingham last night and one at my work this morning. I'll start my own thread soon and let you all know how the car is going.

Absolutely delighted for you James.
While I had no qualms about recommending a second view of the one I looked at, Howards seemed to offer so much more.

Makes my day when things turn out so well :)

looks great....

must be a W123 to over read on the speedo... both of mine over read by around 10% according to tomtom... although im not sure i trust my tomtom too much either.

That looks like a great buy. Now you must think about getting it waxoyled underneath before the scottish winter salt dissolves this fine specimen!

I'd hazard a guess it's on its way to Dundee , and hope we might see it at some of the Scottish GTG's .
Yes I definitely plan to get to some when I can :thumb:

It definitely does, driving this car makes me totally change my driving style!

Yes this is one of the first things im going to get done along with the timing chain and tensioner. Ive been told there is a really good Mercedes specialist in Glasgow, Brian Melvill I think his name is so I'm going to give him a ring and see what he recommends :)
