my w211 e500 2005 door always sparks me

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum and i drive a e500 2005, absolutely amazing car. However over the past few weeks the door handle has been irritatingly elecgrocuting me such that i have started closing the door with my knee. Any ideas or suggestions....thanks

Blame the weather....it happens to me also, i ask the wife to close my door

It isn't the car shocking you, you are shocking the car with static electricity.

Do you wear shiny polyester suits?

When you get out of the car place your foot on the ground before touching any part of the car. You will then run any static electricity to earth.
The problem is remembering but a short sharp shock tends to remind you, usually too late.

Given he's talking about closing the door, I'd assume he's already got both feet on the ground but how would you open the door to put your foot down without touching it anyway

I still get shocked, I'm convinced its the weather as through the winter we never get zapped, its starting now the weathers changing.

Thankyou all for the feedback. Firstly regarding weather here in dubai it is always hot and sunny, the car does have leather. I did suspect that its probably me, and it shouldnt be such a big concern for me but sometimes the jerk is pretty sparky... hahaha

Hmmm...i will try the feet on the ground trick to check...

perhaps get some good cotton robes like a proper sheikh!

you used to get anti static rubber strips that went on under the car...
