Hi,

Purchased Late 2007 Registered Mercedes C200 W204 with in car NAVI/Bluetooth/PCMCIA/HDD and CD Changer - it also plays DVD and MP3.

When I purchased the car, Navi map showed NAV screen similar to Google Maps with High Resolution Street level maps. But in order to reset the Phone Address Book I did a system reset.

Since then my NAV is only showing roads as lines - no longer the nice Google type maps?

Just wondering what happened and How to get the nice maps back.

Thanks.

Have you tried zooming in? The view may have altered, reverting to factory.

Yes. Tried max zoom today but still just lines as roads (like very early tom toms), not the nice google type maps. I am new to Mercedes so just wondering if resetting the command system (from the command menu) reset the map as well.

But I would think once the map is upgraded, system reset would not reset the map, as the old map would have been wiped by the update?

That makes sense. I am only guessing but it sounds like a map setting. I haven't experimented myself but it is like there is a setting for road atlas view as opposed to road view, if that makes sense. I will see if I still have a link to the Comand operating manual.

I can't find the link I had- must have deleted it. Do a Google search on Mercedes Comand manual 2007; there a few free ones, some that you have to open a free account before the download.

Thanks Giantvanman.

I experimented with the Map view settings and now have Map on "Bird's Eye view". The Google like view is now back along with the icons for Petrol Stations etc.

Next project is to update the NAV maps. Any suggestions on sourcing Genuine NAV DVD for a reasonable price? Will the Dealer Do it for free, if I get a oil/filter change and get a visual health check? I will contact the Dealer on Monday.

Glad you got it sorted.

The dealer will only do it for free if A. you strike a deal or B. the car is less than three years old. There are options; quite often dealers will have a special offer (circa £90) on existing maps when a new map is coming out or you could contact Alfie here https://www.commandonline.co.uk to see what he can do but generally maps are about £150.
Do NOT be tempted by a snide copy from Ebay.
