Navigation Drive Issue

I have a navigation drive here for a W211 that doesn't quite work the way it suppose to.

I had to use the special tools CD to update the drive first and I inserted my US map DVD but it told me that there is no DVD in the boot. I went into the nav service menu (NAV + 5) and saw under Default Country that his only showed GERMANY.

I went back and plugged my own drive back in and looked into the NAV + 5 service mode. I went to Default Country and I saw like 5 or 6 countries listed there like CANADA, HAWAII, PUERTO RICO, UNITED STATES and such.

My question now: Is there a way to make this drive work in the US? The drives are all the same to my best knowledge regardless if its for a US or Euro car.


If there is a CD or a way to fix this please let me know!

The navigation processor itself maybe the same whether it is a US or Euro car but not the software / firmware on the navigation processor. Whether you can load the US firmware onto a navigation processor from europe I dont know.

You said you updated the drive first was this the Comand headunit or the navigation processor itself and was it a US disc?

I used the special tools CD for nav drive (not the COMAND) which is the same for EU and US drives.

The firmware of the drive is believed to be the same for US and EU drives as well. My own nav drive is from Europe as well and worked from day one with my US map DVD.
