Hello - I need some advise related to a 1973 450SLC that I recently purchased:

The car was modified by AMG West (California) and fitted with the following wheel set up (per paperwork provided):

AMG Penta 8 X 16 - Pirelli 225/55/16 fronts
AMG Penta 9 X 16 - Pirelli 245/50/16 rears

Unfortunately the seller's daughter unknowingly sold the wheels when she inherited the car.

Luckily, I have located the exact replacement wheels (same brand and sizes). Had to purchase 2 sets of wheels to accomplish and will have an extra set to sell when done!!

I know that the fronts with et 11 will work.
I am not sure about the rear wheels that have an offset of "0".

Would appreciate any feedback before I drop in to the local wheel store.

AMG West mods include AMG coil springs, shocks and brakes, so the car appears tuned for this wheel set up.

Thank you in advance!

Ron

Hi mate ,

It's the middle of the night here ( 2.30am ) so there's not a lot of people online at the moment.

Bear with everyone though , once they get up in the morning , someone will help.

There's three members that ( off the top of my head ) would be able to help you , as they are experts on the slightly older era of cars , they are KLP 92 , aka$h and talbir .... if no one else can help , and if they don't notice this thread , try dropping them a PM ..

KLP 92 knows his Pentas, and occasionally has some for sale ...

Good luck , and welcome to the forum

Thanks...

Howard and Malcolm - Thanks for the welcome and feedback. I'll keep a watch out for any posted tips!

Hello again, just received a message back, as said with 15" wheels the off set was around 25-35, and with larger 16" wheels the off set is always lower, he is using Melbers with an off set of 10 all round. it was mainly the very early models that had the low off set

Here is a useful link that covers most of your car, all of the links only work on the lower half details, as the upper links refer to microfiche

Thanks for info.

Malcom - thanks again for the info & interesting link. I found another interesting link re. offset calcs:

Think I will consult a wheel shop to be on the safe side!

Also on the lookout for a genuine AMG front spoiler - some photos below.
Thanks again!
Ron
