Negotiating on used car at MB dealer

If it's the cheapest car by far in the UK; and these turn over very quickly, I would be more interested in knowing WHY? Can't for one moment think the dealer doesn't know how to price correctly.

Yep - was a fully refundable deposit paid over the phone - I was on holiday at the time, knew nothing about the car but didnt want someone else coming in to take it. Hence the deal isn't done, I have only just found out the full details in the last few days (deposit given 10 days ago).

Anyway, he told me they are putting new rears on, and the fronts went on 200 miles ago. And the next service (A) is due in 9,600 miles. Is service A a big one or an interim one?

I'm going up there on saturday to see it and either do a deal or get my deposit back!

To be fair, the salesman is probably getting it the neck from his director as to why the deposit has been held for so long with no agreement on a sale but hey...

Anyway, tyres are deal with, service is dealt with (i think), tax is through to May 2011 so i think i'll just shut up and get on with it....!

Silver with 19" thats a fairly priced car the ppack is a awesome option.

Is it a 'cash' deal, or finance? Only asking because it will make all the difference when negotiating.

Still working that through. Won't be MB finance thats for sure as they couldnt get close

Oracle coming in at £525 a month including 4 year RTI cover and 2 year tyre cover

Small broker coming in at £510 without RTI or tyres

Just waiting to see if MB finance guy can do something with his other contacts outside of MB

Either way, i'm happy to pay £39,995 for this car given other market prices at the moment......just want to see what i can get them to throw it while i'm at it

Make sure you check the wear on the brake discs and pads - these can be quite expensive, so make sure they are not on their way out anytime soon.

Make sure the lsd oil was changed at approx 2k miles and i bet the drivers seat leather side bolster will be worn.

;) exactly....hence why i moved so fast with the deposit

just want to see what i can get in there before I hit the red button
I have just checked the price on whatcar valuations. You might want to have a look for yourself what they value the car at...

I'm curious. How much deposit and balloon payment is factored in?

Had that LSD oil on my list to check through.

does the drivers bolster always get worn? nothing one can do about it i am guessing??

.

i never pay much attention to these one dimensional car valuation tools

I've monitored the prices of these things for the last 3 months during which time i have lost two cars due to them selling so fast (when they are priced right)

If you want to show me where I can buy a 2008 c63 PP with 14,000 miles for £33k private or £35k dealer (as per Whatcar) i'll gladly go there on saturday instead.....

most dealers are stickered at £45k on such a car so i very much doubt they will be coming to £35k. Have a look at autotrader and PH and you'll see what i mean

£10k down, balloon £13k, 4 years

i'm a short-termist before you start ;)

although i just came out of an M3 CSL at £27k that I bought for £33k 4 years ago which was a bit of a result to be honest...

In all fairness, it makes no odds to me if you were to pay £55k. I am in the trade and whenever anyone wants a general idea on the value of their car, I tell them to look there. I was telling you about that site in particular so you could use whatcars valuation as leverage, but if you are happy paying the screen price then good luck to you.

They will cover ALL tyres for that or just one set a year? You could almost get your money back in tyre wear.. :D

Not all PPP have the LSD

I would imagine that is tyre damage cover. The most worthless insurance you can get on a car me thinks.

tyre damage cover - yeah not gonna turn it down given its thrown in on the finance deal

i dunno about worthless, i live in central london and had 2 punctures on my TVR and 1 on my CSL in the last 2/3 years - given you generally have to replace both sides if you get a puncture its ends up a fairly costly affair! having said that i think it is limited to £300 per claim
