New Bluetooth UHI

It sees the phones (Not the xda though) but the phones dont even see the device. I can ony get a k700 to see the cars phone and that wont pair.

I dont see the point in releasing a bluetooth device that does not work with bluetooth devices.

How do they propose the increase the number of phones supported?

The MB kit clearly states that it is a SAP device (I had a look at the specs this weekend). I had hoped it would work with other Bluetooth phones, but clearly not judging by the posts here.

Also, Tony Purslow Guildford had sold a couple and found out the hard way that these kits do not work with ordinary Bluetooth phones.

However, this is not MB being behind the times. SAP is very new - very, very new. I hope that more and more phone manufacturers will start to include the SAP Bluetooth profile in their phones soon (I bet MB do, too:) ) but we must now wait and see.

As a matter of interest, the first car in the world to support SAP was the Flying Spur - last year. As far as I know, only the Volkswagen Passat, Bentley GT range and MB have SAP systems for cars at the current time.

So far, I have checked out Samsung (no phones) Sony E (no phones), Nokia (a couple), Siemens (quite a few - all defunct), Motorola (no information available). If anyone discovers any SAP phones, I would love to hear about it.

So as it stands the best option seems to be a Nokia 6230i, not the end of the world. But we are a Sony Ericsson family :)

6230i absolutely and completely rocks. Its not often that i say that and id even go as far as saying its a suiting replacement for the 6310i

I see my 6021 also has the SAP feature :)

Can you please tell me where (presumably on the Nokia site) you guys ae finding out which phones support SAP? I cannot find that info for the 6233, for example.

Thanks
Philip

Just to let you know, We have now got it fully working using the Nokia 6230i. Worked straight away.

And on a side note, it is the best call quality i have ever heard through bluetooth.

Great news! By the way, it isn't really a conventional bluetooth connection, there is no voice transfer via BT, just data - it is effectively as if you had a factory fit mobile phone. That is the strength of SAP.

Found this page which lists a lot of phones .... if you select the phone it will show you what profiles the phone supports.

http://www.parrot.biz/guide_chm/CK3X00/ck_2.htm

I know it is for the Parrot system but if you select the Nokia 9300 for example it shows it should support SAP.

My phones don't though ..... :(

If you use de USA version of the BT UHI, you don´t need SAP phone.

Do you mean the only one way to use BT UHI, is with a SAP mobile phone?

Hi,
can you tel me how your are getting it to pair up?
My C220 came pre-wired for a cradle, which I have since ordered so that I can use the steering wheel functions.
Iv'e tried pairing it via bluetooth whilst I await the arrival of the UHI cradle, and they both see each other, but then disconnect and then are unable to be re-paired.
HELP!!

The pairing that you can achieve with Comand is minimal and achieves nothing. All of us with Comand experience the same type of connection and the same sense of frustration and disappointment.

However, when you get your Bluetooth UHI, you will be laughing. I am afraid you will just have to wait for its arrival.

You are ahead of me, I haven't even sorted out a SAP phone yet.

Hi All,

I was searching information about SAP and I found out the following in a site ( http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=5915 )

With the release of Windows Mobile 5.0, Microsoft have significantly improved the performance of Bluetooth, and supported profiles in AKU2 have been extended to include Sim Access Profile (SAP, supporting the shadowing of the phone’s address book directly into the carkit), and Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) meaning Stereo Headphones over Bluetooth.

Has anyone tried to communicate with the Bluetooth cradle after upgrading a WM5 to AKU2?

Multiple phone number Contact entries with BT UHI?

I'm thinking about buying one of these (currently have the 6230 cradle in my C220). With my current set up, I can't access secondary phone numbers from Comand, (which only supports one number per entry) I have to dial these directly on the phone. I presume that when i have a SAP pairing I can't actually use the phone itself. Can someone who has the Bluetooth interface advise whether it supports the full phonebook entry (like the £100 Parrot kit I had in my previous phone) Or whether I will be completely unable to dial these numbers (which means i will have to create a whole load of extra phone number entries)
