New car for SWMBO need the panel's verdict

I'm surprised the V40 (daughter, I suspect is correct) isn't under consideration. Five cylinder Diesels and 'sports-spec chassis' available. Autocar were glowing in their praise of the 113hp 4cyl Diesel they drove. They also drove the 'sports-spec chassis' and liked it a lot. They seem to offer a lot in all departments - with some interesting options, but mainly its handling is its outstanding feature.
I know striking a deal is all, but isn't depreciation lessened with a newer model than outgoing? Wont the dealership be keen to see some out on the streets?
Go on, it's gong to be a Volvo - which one? At least you can keep the salesman in limbo a touch longer....!

Not as clear cut as we thought this with new V40 no sports models available for 18 months so that's out.
Astra GTC a cracking car and Vauxhall dealer willing to deal could not confirm a price today as he has to speak to his sales manager but the discount level he could discount to was already reasonable,they have promised a full written quote within 48 hours.
So I have been cheeky with the volvo dealer and because the C30 is an outgoing model I've told them what I am prepared to pay for the car and what I want as part of the deal the sales manager did not dismiss it as I've been a good customer of theirs over the years but said he needs to discuss with dealer principal tomorrow and will come back to me with a response. If I can pull this one off it would be a stunning deal but I'm not holding my breath
Will update when I have full details both cars

I'll publish details of the deal on here in the hope that it might help others what discount to target if they are buying from these manufacturers.

List Price £21,200
They are willing to do the deal at £16,700 which is 21.2% discount
The fact they were so quick suggests there may be room for a nibble in the negotiation to close the deal.
I await Volvo's reply with interest

Some Volvo dealers are openly advertising savings of over 25% until the end of July anyway. Trust a Yorkshireman to push them just that little but further, though.

Looking at the poll its an equal split just now at 21 for the Ovlov and 21 for the Honda.
I'm not surprised the Volvo took the deal and I don't think the finance deal swung it too much (did it?)

Great choice of car, saw one yesterday in the polestar blue looked stunning.
Glad you discounted the Megane and in anything but Renault Sport guise they are flakey to say the least. I have just swapped a GT line for the SLK
