New Car Suggestions

Hello everyone,

I currently own a 2010 Mercedes CLS 219 Grand Edition and am looking to replace it in the future.

The main criteria for a new car are: Ride quality, refinement, build quality, road presence and performance. Ideally, like the CLS, I would like it to be a model of car that is not seen commonly and for it to be superior to the CLS in the criteria stated above.

My budget is currently up to around £40k. My annual mileage is in the region of 3000 miles, the car would be used daily and I would like the car to be petrol.

Cars I am currently considering are the Mercedes S Class Coupe, Mercedes CL, Bentley Continental GT, Maserati Granturismo and Porsche Panamera.

I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions/experience with the cars listed above? Many thanks in advance.

Of the four marques you listed, the Mercedes will probably be the easiest to live with in terms of servicing and repairs costs.

But then, the three non-Mercedes cars that you listed will all be a significant step up from the CLS, in a way that the S-Class coupe won't be able match.

Have you considered a CLE350d? Having experienced it, it feels like the successor to the S-Class coupe funny enough. The CL interior will feel ancient and anything out there right now will cost you a fortune to maintain. The S-Class coupe has a dated infotainment but it looks and drives fantastic - especially the S560 (The original S500 is a CL in disguise mechanically). I am sceptical about the maintenance of the airmatic though.
