new grill designs

As long as they make it easy to clean!!
And not like the present slats which are ok on top but not finished underneath. Very poor, cuts the sponge and your fingers.

Car designers do not have a clue.
A car should be easily washed by the enthusiast.

And is it impossible to have a car that allows suitcases to stand upright in the boot? So much wasted space.
I think in an E class you should be able to get four suitcases in, otherwise why carry four people?

I really like that grille.

MMmmmmm....Seems to me the whole design thing is a little dated, what are the real big differences apart from a few slight curves around the grill (I accept its a little different to what we are used to) but its a Vauxhall Insignia ! Designers need to smoke a bit more weed and watch less tv adverts me thinks.....:D

Have a look...

The dotted grill looks really fresh and shows MB aren't afraid to be brave. It'll grow on you the more you see it.

''See the Concept Style Coupé head-on and you’re immediately struck by its menacing, predatory looks – like a shark closing in on its prey.

But there’s beauty too, exemplified by the innovative diamond-look grille first seen on the Concept A-Class, and the Alubeam paintwork with its molten metal effect.

Other eye-catching touches include headlamps that glow red in standby mode, and indicators featuring individual points of light that light up in succession.

In profile, dramatic signature lines are carved into the flanks, sweeping back towards striking rear lights and a broad, muscular rear section. An integrated dual exhaust system emphasises the car’s sporty credentials, as do stunning 21-inch alloy wheels with a distinctive turbine design.''

.... Said of the new A class on which the grille design is based....

''The beak is pure Mercedes corporate design, with a large trapezoidal grille opening housing the brand’s pointed-star emblem. That and the lower grille opening are filled with what Mercedes describes as a “star-filled sky,” white dots arranged in concentric circles on a black background. The headlights are LEDs, while the unique running lights use clustered fiber-optic elements.''

What I say..

Next time Mrs Merc removes a load of your clean clothes from the washing machine, stick your head in and have a good look around. That concept MB design grille doesn’t look quite as new and inspiring as you first thought it did. Even down to badge !! ...... :D

Dont mean it ain't good lookin tho....

No, I thought that as well. The inside of that particular washing machine looks funky.

They don't all look like that - and inspiration can come from the strangest places sometimes...

Not sure what you mean by fresh, it looks very much like an original SL190 from decades ago I think.

I actually like the look of that grille.
