Car
2000 CLK 320 Elegance
Hi there,

Just bought a 2000 CLK320 yesterday. Will pick it up today.
Its my first Mercedes, let alone a coupe.
Mercedes Servicing Surrey | Mercedes Surrey

I found these guys near me and wondered if any of you had experience with them.
Airco is not working, so need a check there as well
It has done 80.000 miles
Anything else I should check?
thanks

Peter

Welcome, I have the same car, just the cabriolet.

Aircon not working, I am assuming then that the EC light is on, it is working when the light is out on the 208 CLK. If the EC light is on, it may just need a regas.

I am not far from Nick George's in Brockham, but have never used them, so cannot comment from personal experience, but have heard that they know their stuff.

Engine wise these are pretty solid, in 100k miles apart from normal consumables mine has needed new HT Leads, Ball Joints, MAF sensor and aircon regas.

Biggest issue is rust, if your's does not have any, and I will be surprised if it doesn't, treat it as soon as possible, and try and keep on top of it. Front/Rear Arches, boot lid around the lock, crossmembers are the usual places. If you do all you can to keep it at bay, they are fantastic cars, and dirt dirt cheap at the moment.

thanks for the replies.
AC is not working at all, also no lights on. not even the blower works
might have to take it to garage for a check
also noticed on the 18" AMG rims all tires are 225. I read somewhere that the tires are staggered? rear 255 or so?
slight leak left front. dripping under dash.

I knew it needed some care, but the AC worries me

Cant help with the aircon diagnosis, but that does not sound good.

Mine are staggered on 16's
These are the sizes

205/55 front
225/50 rear

I know they came from the factory on 17's, but not sure if they ever came with 18's, may be worth checking if the are original rims or replicas, but am 99% sure they should have been staggered.

reading some other posts on the forum, I think they should be staggered. But they need to be replaced soon anyway, so I can do some research before.
Just went for another drive and the AC is sorted! When I turn the key and start the engine, I just rotate the key a little bit back and......voila, it worked! Strange, but very relieved. Driving with steamy windows is scary !

It drives very well. Took it on the M25 a bit, wow! so smooth!
What is the button with S and W?

cheers

S is summer starts in 1st and holds gears longer
W is winter starts in 2nd and changes up faster.

Can somebody recommend tires for my CLK320 as in picture? 18" rims. I believe they call them AMG?
front ones are 225's and worn. rear ones are 225 too, but still ok. maybe move them to the front and buy new 235 or 245's for the rear?

Can somebody recommend a make and type. I am not a super fast driver on country roads, but 3 to 4 times a year long trips on Europe motorways (100mph + cruising)

cheers

transformed

Hi again,

Just got the car back from a check over and fitted 4 new tyres.
they also adjusted the tracking etc and together it transformed the car. I was recommended 225 all around and it drives really nice

the headlamps seem very worn/scratched don't give much light

looking forward to my first Europe trip

so far happy with car

cheers

Strange on the 225's.

I have checked many times and should be 245/40's on the rear and 225/45's on the front. Mine has the original 17in AMG's

Other tyres I think affect gearing and rev counter.

On a different note, how much does MAF cost to change?
