New Mercedes iPhone Cradle Allows full Vehicle Integration

do you need the ipod interface as well. with the new Iphone out next month this may be a good way of integrating both

We have some of these in stock and will be evaluating them in the next couple of days.

I have a 3G iphone on order so we will also see how the navigation works on that with this!

Hi,

I have found the Mercedes part number for the new iPhone cradle (2048202351) but in order to use it with the Mercedes iPod kit you need an adapter (which must be a lead) and this goes between the connection on the iPod kit and the iPhone cradle. Does anyone know the part number for the adapter?

Many thanks,

Steve

Hi,

I managed to find the part number for the adapter (cable). It is A2048200304. What I haven't been able to get confirmed is if the cradle is compatible with the new iPhone 3g. I would be suprised if it wasn't.

Kind regards,

Steve

Hi Alfie, any reason why the R171 isn't listed as a suitable vehicle?

Also does anybody know if you could connect a Dension 500 to the kit rather than the MB iPod kit?

We can probably answer this for you tomorrow when a couple of us get our 3G iphones.:bannana:

As for Dension - no chance of fitting that to this cradle i'm afraid. The R171 SLk will probably work with the cradle provided you have phone pre-wire. Also remember that to have a factory ipod kit in an R171, you must have comand.

Anyone have a chance to test this out with their new iPhone 3G yet?

I will test this on sunday 27th when I return from France.

I've had the new iPhone cradle, along with the ipod integration kit & cradle adapter, fitted into my E class and I can confirm that both the old and new iPhone 3g work. Interestingly, the iPhone cradle uses a bluetooth connection to pass the iPhone's contacts list to the telephone system. This must be because the contact data is not available through the data port on the iPhone.

If anyone wants to see any photos then let me know and I'll post them here.

Kind regards,

Steve

Yes, I would definitely like to see photos of the iPhone 3G inside this new cradle. Can you also show some pictures as to how the contacts appear when they load up into the COMAND? Are text messages downloaded?

Help - After 2 weeks unpacked my new 3G iphone today and although it paired okay with HFP bluetooth cradle i can't get any of my contacts through the steering wheel buttons. When i scroll through it identifies my phone but says 'please wait' and nothing happens although i can get the number if i manually put it into comand. On my previous iphone i was able to press for contacts using scrolling and connect /disconnect calls.

Am i doing something wrong or do i need to disconnect from 3G to 02.uk normal network? which i have already tried still wont give me phonebook.

Check here

Seems Alfie has the same problem and it's a bug in the new software

Thanks. Guess i need to switch back to original iphone until the bug is sorted.

Yes but dont update the S/w on your original iphone as if you do, you will get the same problem.

Hi

[Edit some updates done]

This is where I'm at with my testing

iPhone with V1 software
MB HFP OK
MB iPhone cradle
ViseeO MBU-1000 OK
ViseeO MBU-2000 OK
iPhone with V2 software
MB HFP no phone book transfer
MB iPhone cradle - sijones says its OK
ViseeO MBU-1000 - Address book transfer issues (no address book transfer or duplicates)
ViseeO MBU-2000 - With latest software (BT023, CPU032) yesterday!) works great
iPhone 3G
MB HFP - no address book transfer
MB iPhone cradle - sijones says OK
ViseeO MBU-1000 would expect same as iPhone with V2 software, but not tested yet
ViseeO MBU-2000 would expect OK with latest MBU-2000 software, but not tested yet

Hope that helps

Richard

Just make sure your old phone is not running 2.0 software. Apparently this bug also affects the BMW phone system in the same way.

Hi guys i can confirm that the 3G iphone works fine with the iphone cradle, phonebook works etc, as does the 2.5G iphone with latest software.
The lead on the cradle is for ipod funcionality on NEW cars fitted with a new option, universal media interface. it is a socket inside the armrest.

Thanks for that confirmation.

The iPhone cradle cradle can also be connected to the standard iPod kit using a Mercedes cable (which replaces the existing iPod flying lead, and was on a long back order), and to the UCI interface (using a different special cable) - but I havent found a car with that to play with although I did have a lead to play with ...

Cheers

Richard
