new shape s class has arrived in edinburgh ,silver s500 long wheelbase,on loan to the royal bank of scotland at gogarburn office,supplied by john weir of grangemouth.has anybody driven it yet?.

Saw my first one on UK roads on Monday.
Looks better in the flesh than photos but is still a 'colour-sensitive' shape IMHO.

Not seen one in the flesh but looks nice in the pics - looking forward to seeing one in the flesh - the new S Class from looking at the press reports and pics is a "car and a half..." They have a powerful line/range of engines too 2.9 CDI capeable of doing 0-60MPH in under 7.5 seconds (ish) and S500 near the 6 second mark... AMG bodkykit would really finish it off nicely (even though the car looks great still as standard...)
Depending on how the car is when it is released I may possibly treat myself to one...

I love the new S, can't wait to see one in the flesh. However I also agree that it looks like it would be colour sensitive. I think it looks fantastic in Black, especially with an AMG or Brabus kit!
Wasn't so sure about the Ford Focus style wheel arches, although the new ML & CLS and now the new S show that Merc design is moving forward. The interior shots look fantastic with the aluminium switches.

My Dad who has the current W220 S500 also wants to swap his over to W221 as hetoo fell for the pics and feels that the W220 looks outdated now in comparison to the new W221 from just the pics...

I remember he hated the W220 went it was first launched, he wasn't very complimentary of the W221 from the pictures. I'm sure he will definitely want one when he sees it in the flesh, especially the interior, which looks so much more special.
Went and checked it out today at Mercedes Benz Manchester. Silver S350 fully loaded with AMG bodykit...

In fact on my way back ging away from the car did I say to myself 'oh the new wheel arches on the S class' and then I noticed them lol. Exterior with the AMG bodykit I would give 9.9/10 (Thats because nothings perfect lol)
Interior was awesome too though I dont know why but the front felt kinda small compared to the W220
maybe because the new centre console kinda comes out rather than being straight (dont know if u undertand what im going on about) but overall the interior with the tech and design was top notch.
I cant believe I actually saw and sat in the new S class today lolz but damn was I impressed. Now I just gotta convince pops to buy one lol

My brochure for the new W221 has come through the post this morning and the car is just amazing and the offical lanch is on 16th March at the Stealership that i'm going too (hopefully I will test drive it then - my Dad will be going too...).
The level of equipment/options on this car is just amazing:
- Reversing Camera (appears on the display on the instrument cluster)
- Night View Assist - (shows a camera view pic of the road ahead on the dash/instrument cluster display)
- Panaramic Sliding Roof
The list is just endless...
AMG bodkit is a must as looks wicked in the pics... (something I would def get if I buy one...)
Couple of new colours have been introduced (Flint Grey (368) & Andorite Grey (370) - both are metalic finishes.
The line of engines are as per normal: S350, S500, S600 (LWB) and a S320 CDI but the engine is 2987CC). In my previous post I had said that the S500 did 0-60MPH around the 6sec mark but it is actually 5.4 seconds... the S350 is 7.3sec.
I have fallen for the car and will probaly make my decison after I have seen it in the flesh and driven it - I'm interested in the S500 (very quick indeed...)
Ok - I have to admit I'm now very excited.....
