New Series of Wheeler Dealers

Thats not the point of the show... the show is illustrate how home DIY'ers could make some money from doing up cars and selling them.. hence ed's time represents the hours YOU would put in.

Ed does have another show where he shows how to make extra money in the car business..

I love the show but why do they never include the cost of all mikes phone calls and driving around plus Eds hourly rate fixing up these cars is laughable at the prices they get nobody could do the same work at the same prices, with that rant over the mk2 jag was and is a sexy car who wants to buy me one :-D

I agree, only seen a couple but they dodged the tricky parts, like putting a new bearing in a gearbox and new valve guides in by sending them away to "experts". What sort of d i y is that? They are not the easiest of jobs but like most car bits it is only mecanno, especially with the equipment they have to hand.
I'm sure many of us have taken engines out with a rope over a beam and some brute force. I remember being pinned to a garage floor by a gearbox when replacing the clutch. All part of being a young broke motorist at the time.
There profits look derisory compared with the labour, if that's all you can do to earn some extra cash then fair enough but there must be better ways.

I think a lot of self employed businesses, mine included, return derisory, as you put it, profits when you add up all the hours worked.

And regarding the bearing in the gearbox, Ed pulled a bearing from the gearbox of a car in one of the recent repeats, can't remember the car, so I think they show different jobs in different episodes.

It makes for good telly in a 'wish I had the time to do that' kind of way for a weekend hobby mechanic. But im sure the pro's have a few facepalm moments watching it.

I watched both of the first episodes, I thought the chance of us mere mortals getting that set of seats for the Jag at £450 is a bit remote. I know its TV and they have to entertain us, but quite often they get things like interiors or a set of wheels for prices that are totally unrealistic. I guess the supplier gets the free publicity in return for a special price.

They must have researchers spending days sourcing the parts. Normally, if the woodwork on these cars is poor then it will all need replacing or renovating and yet they were able to find just the pieces that they wanted and in perfect condition. The new seats looked like Ambla not leather.

The windscreen wipers had also self-repaired and were parked correctly by the end of the programme ! I think a lot of repairs take place that don't get a mention in most episodes.

They only have 40 odd minutes of show time. I don't think they can document every repair.

It's for a bit of entertainment, and for that reason I'm in. Although I keep flipping missing these episodes

KillerHERTZ, here's big thumbs up for embedding them :thumb:

It is entertainment after all said and done.

If they televised every phone call. Every minute spent doing mundane stuff would anyone watch it?

If you remember the red 635 csi they did. They did a revisited follow up.

It was at Ragley Hall near me. I watched Ed getting in and out of car. Angles being shot. Etc.

On the editing room floor. The hours if film are cut down to minutes.

Right. Having said all that. I love the program. Would love to give it a go!!!! Hey Ho. One day!!!

On that Wheeler Dealers Revisited show I wish they'd had the guts to admit that a rather high proportion of the cars they'd repaired had ended up as scrap!

Episode seemed very rushed and didnt go into that much details, still enjoyable though.

£5000k profit! made up for all the other episodes where they only made 50p profit :)

Nissan Skyline (R32) tonight.

Have you noticed the W126 looking front grille hanging on the workshop wall?

Any good?

I usually love this program but last night I couldnt wait for it to end...
Rubbish episode.

What was that ridiculous spoiler all about...

Can't stand Bernie - think he's a right t***er. Much prefer WD.

CCR. Would be OK we're it not for the contrived silliness, mock arguments, weekly tantrums etc.

It is a poor imitation of WD in my opinion.

All that poop about Bernie attempting to respray the car. Oh really.
