I'm new to the forum and had brand new E cab for just over a month. Its the AMG spec E220 on standard AMG 18" wheels.

I just dont think they fill the arches well especially as the rear end is so big they look out of place in the arches! I just cant find enough on the net or pics on a decent set of wheels.

I dont want to blow silly money on a set but have seen a few AMG replicas on ebay for around a £900-1000 with tyres. They look like the CL500 rims and come in 20" or 19" also theres the S-class type AMG 5 spokes which look good.

Any ideas on what will look good or what size to get!? Any pics of Ecab or E coupe are appreciated. My car is white (wanted black but its leased and this is the best deal they had!).

Thanks

Sam

There are plenty of wheels out there now but for 19s you'll be paying a fairly substantial price because you'll need decent-ish tyres that are XL rated otherwise they will go pop easily, the offsets are quite important on these and are quite high so at the time I got mine it restricted the choice of wheels.

Spacers are the way to go on the rear but then if your car is leased be careful what you do, don't want to upset your lease agreement.

Thanks for the reply. Love the black rims Dr Nab!! Whats size are they 19s or 20s?? Also whats the ride like I had an A5 (well still have need to sell it yet!) on 19s and the ride is so much more harder than the merc and the Audi rims can go upto 20's from the factory so was worrying if I step up to 19s or 20s it will be a crippling ride!?

Thanks, no problem, they're 19s - 20s are a bit much given the space in the arches, plus there aren't really many tyres available that match the load rating so you will have to keep an eagle eye out for potholes, grates, nasty camber changes etc.

The ride on the 19s is better than on the 18s but thats because of the tyres I'm on but everyone has their own preference, I'm looking forward to getting back on to the 19s to be honest because I can't be doing with the crashy ride on 18s/conti tyres.

I'm looking at 20s for this summer to go with the other stuff I've got planned but to be honest I doubt I will do it because I'll be lowering it, had the guys at my local tyre shop have a look to see how much space there is and they've advised against it even though they would be selling 4x20" tyres to me.. so that's an idea of how little room there is, I'm not saying it can't be done it can just have to make sure the offsets are perfect and the tyres are the right width and profile but again like I've already said those tyres aren't able to match the load rating so if you blow the tyre out and mess your suspension up then it won't be worth the "look" you'd get from 20s.. at the end of the day the rolling radius of the wheel will be roughly the same as the rim gets bigger the tyre gets smaller etc. I know of someone who was on 20s on an E350 and changed back to 19s then back to 18s so go figure!!

I'm surprised you say that about the A5, I drove one before I got my E and that was on 19s found it a bit.. wallowy so didn't bother after that.

Thanks Nab

Yes its food for thought. Really like the 20s though especially the AMG ones. They're replicas of CL's wheels and suppose i'd be putting budget tyres on to an extent not top £250+ tyres. As its leased was going to put the standard one back on as its returned and the money id save replacing the current rubber and scuffs etc will come off price of the new rims.

There are a few 20's and 19s on the bay and they are same designs just different sizes. Dont just mean 19-20 I mena offset and 20x10J etc. they are staggered too so that rear wider than front etc... the add says they will 100% fit and I've asked the seller and he has confirmed they wil fit with no rubbing or spacers etc..but cant trust seller can u!? soooooooo my next questions, what would be the size that fits offset wise, or just tell me size of your wheels so I can have a look! Thanks

PS my A5 is on the 19 Y spoke rims, the tyres were originally Dunlops and they werent too bad but they were all replaced with Pirelli P Zeros and it bangs off bumps that shake the whole car. I drove it the other day after a month in the merc and the difference was very noticable. Its an sport suspension but guess so is the AMG pack on merc, not sure may be the pirellis.

thanks
