After deliberating over various cars for the last 4 months I picked up a Dec 14, CLS 350 Shooting Brake today. Very nice! 'Tis a Premium Pack in Palladium.

Just going out now to see what it drives like in the dark and to see what the fancy ambient cabin lighting is like.

I love that model. Congratulations, and pics are obligatory.

Yep - the ambient cockpit lighting is ace - its a really nice place to be.

Off to France on Sunday in it so it will get a 1500 mile shakedown drive in the next week.

Couple of pics attached - these were taken at the Dealer on Saturday when I went to view it.

Those wheels and the new grille alone transform the w218 for me. Was not a fan of the pre facelift in the slightest.

Your car looks stunning!

Thought I’d update this thread ...

One week in and I’ve driven 1500 odd miles including a 1100 mile round trip to France, with 550 miles in one day on the way back.

It feels a bit sluggish in E mode but … if you check the speedo turns out its not. Stick it in S mode and it flies. Proper thumping overtaking power between 60 and 80 mph. That’s why I always end up buying a 3 litre Mercs over the 4 pots.

Mine has the comfort suspension option and as its a SB it has air on the rear as standard. This makes it a very comfortable drive, the first time I threw it into a long sweeping bend I felt slightly worried but it was actually very composed.

Tyres are very noisy on some road surfaces but its also virtually silent inside at 80mph on smooth French motorways.

As a long distance crusier its sublime - I drove 300 odd miles in 5 hours and it was effortless.

Round town you get used to the size of it quite quickly - it very slightly bigger than our E320 cdi Estate.

The boot is huge despite the slope of the roof - and I managed to pick up full set of genuine Merc rubber floor mats and the boot liner on Ebay for £45!

But ... the real treat is the headlights - they are so smart. I keep looking for excuses to drive it in the dark.

Niggles …. the doors are small - I did know this before I bought it - It’s a bit of a skill to get in and out if you are over 6 foot without looking like a contortionist.

So I now have a very sensible, practical, family car on the inside that looks like a ballsy, executive coupe on the outside.

Average 42.8 mpg on the run to France - driving at speed limits - either 60, 70 or 80mph. Diesel only 79p a litre in France - which is nice! My short trip, round town MPG seems to be about 33 so pretty happy with that.

So far so good ...

Nice - looks pretty bad a$$.

Car looks fab, pleased you chose Diesel, hard luck to diesel downers thread.......lol

Stunning. Now thinking if that will work with a dog pen....

Bought from a LR dealer or a multi manufacturer franchise?

It came from a LandRover dealer as they had taken in in P/X against a Discovery. It still has 21 months of Merc Warranty and I reckon it was a little cheaper than a main dealer.

I wasn't planning on buying such a new one - really I was looking at a 2 - 3 years old one but then ... man maths kicked in!

You know how it goes ... it'll hold it price better being a facelift model .... it's still got a decent length warranty ... its low miles .... etc etc and all of sudden it seemed cheaper buy this one!

Wow ...i'm jealous, what a lovely looking car !

That's such a stunning shape Paul. The colour and those multi spokes look fab.

Thanks for sharing and wishing you many miles of sublime motoring.
