New Year's (car related) resolutions?

replace my wives picasso with a CLK cab, not sure which engine size yet, as long as it is not faster than my SL :D

finish my coupe, get something with a V8 in it and I suppose I really ought to buy a micro town car thingy for convenience etc (yes, that last one is a bridge too far)

If a project I am working on comes to completion I will buy an E60 w124 (because I'm worth it [flick hair, look to camera and smile]):D :D

Oh yeah?

What's this micro town car thingy? Can't have that on the drive ruining the view!

Will the E60 be for me instead of the SL? ;) :D I shall enjoy that!

And will your tooth glint as you smile??

Change my clk for a clk55.............

Although if the year goes really well (or prices go south) a 993:D

find a decent w211 E55 to upgrade too!

My car is 10 this year so planning some serious pampering

ARB links and bushes

Engine mounts - front (would appreciate some guidance on if i should replace any other mounts i.e., rear

New Front Springs (old ones were put back on after the spring perches were relpeced last year !!!- i'm sure one was broken at the bottom

New front shocks (not sure which ones i need - Bilsten B4? any comments welcome) - again - should i replace the rear also?

New Brake disks and pads - all 4 corners

Plastic moulded tray under engine - that pap who did my exhaust last year damaged it when he dropped the cat!! - cosmetic yes but it bugs me knowing its cracked

Steering rack gaiter - the pap damaged the heat shield too

Internal trim piece to drivers front door - the long finishing strip that is fixed to the car body and goes round the entire internal door void - not the rubber door seal - fag burn!!

Internal finished cover to the drivers side A pillar - fag burn!!

Underseal to car - full boona treatment

ATF and diff fluids

vallet , wash and wax

The above mechanical items are being replaced not because they are shot, but that i think they should be replaced as the car is getting on now

i have tended to replace only when needed -over last 3/4 years (appart from waranty work) only 1 set front disks/pads, yearly oil and filter/services (indi), tyres

Popping down to the deallers now for some prices

Any thoughts on where i could make savings on parts would be appreciated - note itend to use OEM or better quality parts only

Was thinking it would be a good time to register and subscripe to the MB parts website - can someone post the link please

will post-up the quotes when available

I feel better now afterwriting this post that i am somewhat more committed to doing the above work - some of the above items are oustanding from last year!!!:D

Go from 126K -> 150K without replacing anything other than consumables.

Re-route the washer jet plumbling so it runs within the engine bay (rather than the back edge of the bonnet, possibly wrapping it around the heater pipes on the way.

Sound insulatation - too much tyre noise on pour surfaces. Thinking of some form of rubberised coating on the inside of the plastic wheel arch liners for starters.

Clear garange to allow the possibility of something interesting.

Complete the restoration of my MK1 Caddy.

Sell the 202 and buy an AMG.

Get Emma a new car.

Get an ML 270 for recovery purposes and mobile servicing.

well, it needs its brake fluid changing, and the pads up front are a bit low, so it may get treated to larger disks, new calipers at the same time as its service later this year.

may as well run this into the ground at this time rather than spend any money on a new one (pcp or otherwise). Got some expensive window refurbishment to continue funding, and a spot of decorating. Car has to take a back seat for a while.

And this one does everything it needs to.

You can't really go wrong with ECP or GSF ---Both have depots in Scotland ECP Edinburgh/Glasgow GSF Glasgow if you are anywhere near. Get OEM quality/ German sourced stuff you should be fine. The official online site is http://www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk/ I notice they are doing an extra 10% discount on brake discs/pads in January if thats of interest? coupon code:- BRAKES09

NEW YEAR RESOLUTION ...
This year I want to solve one of life's conundrums:

Why do I have two wonderful Mercedes cars, which I leave out in the rain and the snow, while I fill my garage with worthless junk ??

Anyone know the answer ?

For abit of fun, thought it would be a good idea if someone could log/monitor in speadsheet what were all promising to do this year with our cars - would be good chuckle this time next year!!:) :D

My New Year's car resolution. Buy a good used C63 for less than half the new price - credit crunch permitting! Persuading my girlfriend that its exactly the same as the oil burner we have now...
