Hi

Had my W204 C63 Edition 125 since Aug and am loving it.

But how do I know what 'options' it's got I.e.ppp, AMG diff? I know it's got Milltek centre pipes...which sound loverly...but what else?

Any advice on what to look for / how to check would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Performance pack could have LSD, red brake calipers, grey coloured intake on the engine, fancy steering wheel, 487hp instead of 457

Ecain will be along shortly though he knows this like the back of his hand and knows the differences better than I :thumb:

Performance pack doesn't have a locking diff. That's an extra separate to perf pack

Perf pack has red calipers, carbon lip spoiler, half alcantara wheel that's all the visual clues.

Sure there's a website that can tell u spec via the vin

LSD is option 471. Performance pack is stiffer suspension, alcantara steering wheel, floating front discs ( with grey calipers still ) and no carbon spoiler. Performance pack plus is same as above but red calipers, carbon spoiler and forged engine internals with extra bhp. Only the very early pp cars came from factory with LSD. By 2009 it was an option.

Great stuff guys...many thanks. I don't have any othe the above that I know of albeit I do have a vin readout so will look for 471.

To ask a stoopid q re the LSD - how would I know without checking the vin/options list? I always thought that without this, only one wheel would spin...whereas mine deffo spins both...

Don't confuse Performance Pack with Performance Pack Plus.

Simple way to tell is for the OP to post a pic of his engine and the rear underside of the car.

Perf Pack was a 2008/2009 special with LSD, 2 piece front discs with red callipers, 1/2 alcantara steering wheel and the stiffer suspension. Engine was 457bhp.

Perf Pack Plus came in 2010 and went on through the facelift to 2013 (maybe a couple into 2014). This had 487bhp engine with a different colour intake cover. It also has SLS engine bits and some other shiz. The LSD became an option and the 2 piece discs became uber-pricey composite castings (ali-steel) with red callipers. Steering wheel was still 1/2 alcantara and the boot lid also has a carbon lip. Stiffer suspension was now an option and is incredibly rare due to already crashy ride on 19s.

Otherwise there are very few differences. Many owners of standard cars had callipers painted and boot lips fitted so don't use this as a guide. Engine cover is definitive. Steering wheel is nearly as good a marker. If your car has an LSD the rear diff will have cooling fins on the housing.

Oh, one last thing: Why the hell did you not research this before purchase? These options are currently the difference between slow depreciation and slow appreciation. PPP cars are heading north on the 2nd hand market and with the right options they are a great invrstment. A standard car won't lose you a lot of money but there are million of them out there, which begs the question of research.

Anyway, lets see and engine bay pic and I'll put you out of your misery. :)

Ref the spinning wheels and LSD: If you do a doughnut you'll find it'll be uneven in its ability to continually spin both wheels. It'll jump from 1 wheel to 2 and back again. With an LSD it'll be easy to do a proper doughnut. A standing burnout is easy on both wheels regardless with 450+bhp.

Another way to check is to jack the rear up. If you turn one wheel the other will turn the same way if it has an LSD. If it has no LSD it'll go the other way.

^ did the prefacelifts also have the grey intake if the right option was purchased?

Yup. The engines were indiscriminate. If it was a Plus then it had a grey cover. Even on other models.

Just a quick note: I've got a facelift PPP (cheers ecain and others for the help in researching the car back in February) that doesn't have the Merc LSD. I got in touch with AMG, and they said they'd be happy to fit one if I wanted it at the factory.

More costly than the Quaife unit (and a different type - salisbury (clutch plates that wear) vs auto torque biasing (geared that has a lifetime warranty), but does come with a European road trip.

About €3500 iirc (email on my phone not syncing far enough back in time on my work email to see it sorry). Will dig it up on Monday.

Thanks all... mine doesn't have any of these so is just standard...not that that bothers me as I love it anyways. Cheers though. Appreciated.
