Nice Jag

Good looking car, not keen on the exhausts, they remind me of that horrible Chrysler Crossfire

Exhausts in the centre means 3 litre V6.

Exhausts on the outsides means V8, up to 5 litre supercharged.

The current line up is 3.0 V6 and 3.0 V6 supercharged, then V8 atmo.

These were all V6 supercharged cars.

Am I going to be ban by say I much prefer the new XJ than the S-class?

The interior in the XJ is a much more special place to be in, where as the S-class is very business like.

The best feature of the XJ is the ride and handling are way better than the S-class. It can waft down motorway minute and quite happily handle a trackday the next. The S-Class can waft but don't handle as well (AMG included).

I get my coat.....

I was shown a pre-production XJ and thought it was lovely. It's a a shame that all models come with the twin sunroof, otherwise I might have been Jagman.

Be afraid, be very afraid...................... 5 litre V8 supercharged is comming!!

There is no naturally aspirated V8 in the F-Type....the launch V8 is supercharged, albeit at 495bhp it's slightly detuned from the one in the XKR which is rated at 510bhp. I bet that in reality, they're almost identical engines!

I saw another racing green F-Type yesterday. Very nice.

very nice looking car but i would still prefer something more practical as i already have my weekend play thing

I really love the F Type and was close to ordering one, but I can't help but think Jag have dropped a ball or tow with the price. The V8 I was looking at was over 80k, it should be boxter money, it was actually better buying a XK with the heft discounts on them.

it should be boxter money,

Why?

And specifically, why does a manufacturer have to conform to a pricing strategy set by a competitor?

The car is actually more 911-like in terms of performance, with the base V6 being more powerful than a C2, a V6S being nearly C2S level and, in the case of the V8, it gives almost 911 TURBO levels of performance which makes it almost a bargain. In terms of performance, it's in another league to the Boxster.

Now, one could argue that performance isn't all about the power and straight-line speed so it's therefore not even as good as a Boxster in some respects (hence leading to the overpriced perception), but then you can level that argument at the 911 and others too.

People assumed it would be Boxster money because it's a two seater sports car....neatly forgetting the a 911 cab is also a 2 seater sports car.

It's price may lead it to depreciate quickly but then you can also level that argument at almost any car in that price bracket....just look at second hand values of 991's, Aston V8V's et al. All depends on whether Jaguar hold their nerve and resist discounting them too much like they do with the XK. You tend to find they all even out in the end....you tend to get more money off a heavily depreciating car at the front end (when you buy) and get more money at the back end (when you sell) on a lower depreciating car - the net payable often being very similar.

It is a much more complete car than a Boxter or Cayman.

I think it was the expectation that as a 2 seater it would be 50k, the 911 cab does have baby seats in the back. It just seams an odd starting point, mind it hasn't me off too much

I'm not saying its just you because it is the general perception that the F-Type would be £50k'ish. Just not sure where that came from as Jag never intimated that.

I know the coupe 911 has small rear seats but honestly thought the cab was a two seater.

Ok,...so I'm slightly OT here (and plugging my products....)... I agree the F Type Jag is a very nice car.

But we all have a car.....

And according to GQ magazine, the products our company make are better.... and slightly cheaper......:bannana:

V12 E-Type

Fond memory of removing engine and transmission for coachworks but enjoyed road testing when repairs complete:):)
