Hi,

My 02 S500 is fitted with a Nokia interface module that only supports the Nokia 6210 phone. I want to upgrade to a module that supports the 6310i. I came accross a module with the part no. A220 820 0185 in ebay but I do not know if it supports the 6310i phone. Does anyone know???

fyi, the link to the ebay item is:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38761&item=2494434540&rd=1

Thank you.

Thank you.

Its about 80% overpriced.

It has a phone controller and dynamic routing all in one. Suits the Nokia 3310 or the "handy" series of phones.

I had a factory fitted 6210 in the armrest of my W209 which I have DIY upgraded to 6310i. The PSE interface module that you will HAVE to upgrade is located (on a W209) centrally between the back seats and the spare wheel. Reasonably easy job.

Now the bad news. MB charge £238.50 (incl VAT) for the PSE module, A 203 820 51 85 which is the current one for a 6310i. Although almost physically identical (reasonable rather than perfect physical fit to the existing cradle), the 6310i requires this updated PSE to function.

Occasionally you can find them on ebay for about £100, usually from Germany, but be warned, stick to the above model number as many older ones are for sale (discards from others who have upgraded from 6210's or older). I can find none at the moment.

UHI (Universal Handy Interface) and Bluetooth functionality is available on new models. I would suggest considering this route if possible. The 6310i is now obsolete and no upgrade path exists for it. This decision is an important one as MB's (hopefully) last longer than Nokia's.

I have been informed that to change to a UHI system you need new cradles ( obviously ) new PSE module and a complete new wiring loom. ouch!
