HI all

I'm new to this forum, and I'm hoping someone can help me out

I bought a J reg 200E a little while ago as a project and I have it almost ready to roll, putting it through its MOT retest this weekend after £200 worth of failure repairs.

But... I'm having problems finding any documentation (in English or even German, although i have it in Greek which i don't read.) about the engine management 'switch' near the battery.

Sorry to sound vague but I don't know what it's called, its a small 'dial' near the battery that you pull out, twist, and then push back into place, I've been told by the previous owner that its to do with engine performance and fuel consumption, but I don't know how to set it for best economy.

If anyone can help i'll be truly grateful.

Thanks

Dave

It sets the ignition advance for different grades of petrol. the position for 95+ octane fuel is S and for low grade fuel 92- is N---- Usually set at S. Pic thanks to MATT over at http://www.mercedes190.co.uk/ which might be worth joining as well as here since your car has the same engine as most 190s.;)
