Norwich Union launch Pay as you Drive Insurance

if you can pay as you go, do you get a discount at traffic jams?

refund if you reverse everywhere too I hope! :)

good idea

what worries me is, if you leave your car in a car park, garage or street, as you aren't driving then surely you are uninsured? it must be a ploy to get everyone to either sell their cars or keep moving instead or parking!

Your car would always be covered for fire, theft and damage while parked, so you'd pay something like £250 per year assuming 0 miles, then a certain amount per mile would be added on as you used it. Er, probably :)

me thinks they will use it as another tax by stealth. you see, its a set figure at the mo, but when you have loads of people all driving about they can tax it. and unlike petrol, deisel etc. insurance doesnt ruin the astmosphere, nor can you get more miles to the pounds insurance!

i am not sure if its better or worse. if it reduces the cost of car insurance its better. if it ups the cost of car insurance...its worse. and insurance already take into account your mileage.....

is it me or.................

phone companies now offer, talk all day for a fixed fee, instead of per minute. leccy and gas firms are looking at doing so, and with staywarm you already get it, admittidly you have to be old. t'internet firms do all inclusive tariffs.

so the water companies and insurance firms which already offer all inclusive fees for products, are now charging you for what you use! isnt this a backward step?

one day you will be able to book a flight ticket and pay one fee. it will include the tax, the baggage loading fee, the security tax, the in flkight entertainment, the food and drinks, car parking fees. and when these so called low cost carriers jump on that band wagon, then the price of flights will fall.......

Oh dear...thats what we used to get isnt it? but some Euro MP said it was too dear. so now you get no frills flights and they insist you pay for the additions...which is what we used to get until somebody had a good idea of saying, why dont we offer all that in with the price!

we keep going round in circles dont we?
