Spent a bit of time under my w221 S320 for the first time yesterday with the under-trays removed. Was replacing a split intercooler hose and I am very unimpressed but the layout of the various rubber hoses and pipes. There are a few air-con hoses with rubber 'spacer sleeves' deliberately fitted where they rub on bodywork, coolant hoses that are very close to sharp angles and the intercooler has a coolant hose 'sitting' on it. Given that many hoses are specific to the car and not just the engine, I would have thought better routing would have been possible.
The intercooler hose I fitted was an updated MB part and it is a worse fit than the old part. An air-con hose is touching it and there isn't enough slack to move it away. I am thinking of sourcing an aftermarket part if I can't get hold of the original part number.
