Were the connections soldered or crimped? They're unpredictable when crimped.

Reading what Bazzle suggested about doing a diagnostic check, I was thinking about buying this bit of kit Diagnostic tool Ad..JPG
Anyone tried it? It'd be good to hear your views on it, and whether it will work well with my 2002 SLK 200 Kompresor R170 (UK spec)
