Hi everyone, my first posting I hope you can help.

My NTG2 in my 2006 R class seems to overheat the Navigation DVD, resulting in the message 'Please insert DVD' - great when you are in the middle of France :). The display screen and DVD feel very warm. When off for a period of time and back on again all is well for about 20 min then the same again. I've tried the original DVD and my backup both do the same. Is their a cooling fan in the unit and are these know to fail. If so can it be replaced or an auxillary one fitted?

Any advice would help - thanks

Is the disk genuine.

Mine did this with a copied disk. When I ejected it, it was almost too hot to touch.
Got a genuine disk and problem sorted.

If not that then can't help - sorry

This is typical of copied disks as has been said. check both disks are genuine ones. Look here for info on how to check;

Fake & copied disks - Why you shouldnt use them

If one is genuine then let the unit cool down, clean the laser with a DVD lens cleaning kit and try the genuine disk again.

To check the fan inside, remove the unit and have a look whilst it is turned on.
