NTG1 sat nav and audio in

Hi all
My unit doesnt have the sat nav disc.... Is it as easy as just placing dvd into the head unit? I.e do i need original old disc or can i just buy one off ebay for the ntg1, slip it in and bingo!? I gather everyone advises against copies due to potential of locking unit up... However if anyone has used a 'back up' of their own original ) was everything ok? My cousin bought some from dat nav man for her gl mercedes and all was good

Another question is how can i get audio in? I dont have a jack plug in glovebox and would ideally like to have audio out of ipad/ iphone.... The mbs 1000 i gather is just for phone capabilities and wont transfer music?

Sat nav disc goes in the nav processor in the boot. If the system had an old disc in it previously then it will do a firmware update for the nav processor when you insert it so upto you if you want to risk using a copy. You can get a previous version genuine disc on ebay cheaper if you dont have to have the latest disc.
