Number Plates

M4 on the c207 . Managed to get some stainless from a pal.
You get a good selection of sizes with a TV wall mount bracket, they also tend to be stainless. Have used leftover ones on a few cars with captive nuts for securing the plates or frames. As you don’t want to tighten them too much, a drop of thread lock helps secure them.

bit like selling a new house with a wobbly door handle.

You’ve not bought a new house then. Helped build enough of em, and they all have snags.

Around South east london, I think there's 1001 other things for the police to be dealing with, so no front plate seems to be OK, as the back one get's caught be the speed cameras - not my opinion, just seems to be the way.

It's unacceptable, but lots of decent looking cars don't benefit from a standard sized front plate - if I had such a problem, I'd bend it a little with a stick on one, or a small one rather than go without.

No idea, but it's very common on BMW in London, for some reason. Is it considered 'cool'?
Not sure that slinging the plate on the dash and having 2 self-tapper holes in the front bumper meets my definition of cool, but hey ho, each to their own.🤷‍♂️

Some speed cameras can catch you coming towards them so would be reading the front plate

I couldn’t agree more. During the ten years that I worked for a sports and prestige car dealer selling cars typically in the £20k to £100k range I must have fitted hundreds of number plates. I was always very particular about the placement of the plates and the position of screws when used. Nobody ever commented on how accurately the plates were fitted, but I knew.
The fact that no one ever commented suggests that your efforts were not in vain, what baffles me is that getting this kind of stuff right is not super technical it’s just about taking a bit of care and thinking about the little things that matter.
