occasional limp mode and leaking injectors

err, no and no. they are quite pricey! if the front is u/s the rear can usually be unblocked, and the front could be removed to save expense. cats do not naturally deteriorate if everything else is ok (eg fuelling) but some do have a tendency to come loose and self destruct, your front cat is in this cat(egory).

hello all, i am a new member and got a c220cdi, i had injector replaced and ever since the car goes into limp mode. my mechanic diagnosed it as code 1189 inlet port shutt off valve and sadly after that he got seriosly ill and cannot go on with the job, can someone please help and advise me where the particular valve is and how hard is it if i try to do it myself. i do my own servicing and believe i do know a fair bit about my car, just need a bit of inspiration, thank you:confused::wallbash:

Its situated underneath the inlet manifold. Unless you are pretty confident in your own mechanical ability i would leave it to a pro. Best to post your location so guys on here can give you recommendations.
P.s. although the fault is read via the inlet shut off motor its caused by excessive carbon build up in the manifold. This then jams the flaps in the manifold and causes the linkage to break/ motor give in!!

Hope this helps you

thanks alf, i am in leicester, uk and have been to the indie but they dont have time until after one month and honestly i dont really trust them after they tried to rip me off by quoting me 2000 for gearbox selector probs last year whih got sorted for £300:)

Would this also be the case for my ML 270CDi ?

Hi everybody, hope to get some answers too. Mine is a w203 C220cdi, 2006, 85k on the clock. I have an overboost pressure at the charge air at the point that the hose that comes from the intercooler inflates and leaks air over 3000 revs. Intake port shutoff NON present on this model (i have cleaned myself the intake manifold, hoping to find the sticky flaps but...surprise), MAP sensor replaced with MB original spare, the cat doesn't seem to be blocked. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

I am having the exact same problem as the first poster, I too have had a new genuine maf and erg valve clean.

I went up Garrowby Hill in east Yorkshire the other day at 25mph and got over took by a 1 litre Corsa with a load of chav's in it.

I have had it in at an Indie in Huddersfield and when they called me I was expecting them to say what it was that is casing the problem, however they said it was running great. I quickly got myself down to the garage and jumped in it and sure enough I was back behind the wheel of my pride n joy again although I have lost confidence in it now so didn;t hold my breath.

Anyway, two days went by and I was still cruising around at warp speed and then on the 3rd day I lost loads of power again, funny thing is you can get to 100mph or so but it takes forever to get there. So it's not safe mode like if it were the maf.

I don't think it's the fuel pipes because I have had them replaced a couple of years ago when we had a really bad winter, apparently loads of merc fuel lines were splitting so the AA man said.

Could you guy's list the possible causes for me so that I can have each one checked at the garage, I would really appreciate it.

The whole thing is getting me down at the mo as since owning the car it's just been one thing after another, actually it's been the most unreliable car I've ever had, and this car is exceptionally clean and is full dealer history. Car was a 1 owner with 90,000 on the clock when i bought it, it still only has 130,000 and is only 10 years old.
