Just a thought, Is Detailing a kind of obsessive compulsive Disorder?

Although OCD is banded around all the time (and I do it) jokingly, proper OCD is when you feel you have to do things to the nth degree e.g. wash your hands 10s or 100s of times in succession to ensure they are clean. Very life-altering and actually prevents people from living a "normal" life. Maybe to the point where they don't go out in case they touch germs, which to them are on every surface regardless if clean or not.

So I guess it depends on the motivation for doing it.

If it is just because you are a perfectionist, I would think probably not.

If you do it all the time just because you've used the car, or even not, let alone there being any dirt on it - I would think so.

Sorry John. I wasn't making fun of OCD sufferers. I know it can be hell to live with.

I have it in a very mild form. If I don't do certain things in certain orders I have this fear bad things will happen to my family. Very irrational thoughts but out of my control.

Ant.

My son in law has it and everything has to be perfect including books in line magazine's in order.....

Ant, you misinterpreted my post - it wasn't having a go at anyone! Not even sure why you thought it was... :dk:

I'm not an expert - my post was based on watching about it in the odd documentary there have been over the years.

I don't have it and I don't know anyone with it...

Because as usual I post a silly comment trying to be funny (badly) then you posted a very constructive useful post. :wallbash:

I must learn to know when to be serious when required.

You're fine - carry on. :thumb:

I have a special curry plate that's slightly more dished that the others.

I've got a spirit level just for sorting the pictures on the walls.

I hang the washing on the airer in a very specific pattern.

My office desk is a total mess until Tuesday morning when I clean it to the nth degree :D

I'm not OCD, but maybe a bit DCO :D

Nah... most threads warrant some lighter posts.

Even some of the heavy ones on here over the years have had the odd amusing distraction.

It shouldn't be OCD anyway.

Should be CDO as then all the letters are in the correct alphabetical order. :D

I am intrigued, tell more.....

Rashman likes his Merc to be kept clean.

So much so, he won't use it if there is a chance of rain and has an old Alfa to use instead.

If the Merc does get wet - it requires heavy time investment to get it pristine again.

Rather him than me...! :D
