odd. the car rev but not moving properly

Hello,
I left the car for nearly a week on the scottish cold weather and when I started all was OK, but after about 8 mile, all warm up, when I pressed on the pedal, the rev went up to 4000 and the car nearly stayed at the same speed, like if the clutch wasn't gripping.
I parked it, started again a wee while later, went around changing gears manually up and down, and now all is fine?
Odd. Any ideas?

Another question is when I press the pedal hard, there is some white smoke coming out of the exhaust, I run on WVO though, will that be the cause. To get the white smoke you really need to give it a push.

Cheers. I need to get the tool for this. Any idea where I can get a gauge/ dip stick beside mercedes? They charge 20 quid for it.

Humm, I think I might get one then.
Mercedes chequed it 6 month ago( I catch the mecanic on the carpark checking another car) and it was a wee overfilled and I empty a litre as he said awhile ago.
I put an add on wanted, maybe I can get a cheap one.
