As a general rule, oil purchased from the main MB dealer is??? on the dear side.
I purchased 20ltr of MB own branded synthetic oil...229.51 for £47............

From the local MB DEALER....Not bad.

I have three oil filter housing sockets for various MB Marques. None however to fit my EClass....84mm.
The price from MB dealer...would have to come from Germany was £40 plus the dreaded.
The cost from Ebay and Amazon? roughly £7/8. including postage.
I always check with the dealer prices of items i wish to purchase prior to going elsewhere. At times they are as cheap if not cheaper than the local motor factors.
In this case clearly not.

MB oil has been at a cheap price for quite a while. Quite a few on ebay, some are dealerships selling it and some dealers will match the price if theirs is higher. At these prices it would be silly to purchase from elsewhere

20 litres of 229.51 for £47 is really not bad at all.
Cheaper than if I buy and supply oil to the dealer for a service

Though presumably that wouldn't be the case if the car was serviced with them.

I have just recently bought the same oil but only 10l, and I thought I got a good deal at £35.18 incl del, but it seems you did even better! :)

You are probably correct. Strange as it may sound I was unaware that MB had their own brand oil. All but 1 of my previous cars were petrol and i supplied the oil for services .......Castrol Edge, or Mobil 1.
Now I own a soot chucker I was informed by the parts department that the correct oil for my car was available at a very reasonable price. And he was right.....20lts for £47 is a bargain.
