Ok, found out about this C36 i'm interested in ..

Ok, i just joined the German AMG owners forum , lets see what they come up with ....

plugged our site too ! ;)

Would a stealership not be able to shed some more light on the car?

my c36 comes up as a c280, as shude said, they all started life as c280`s.

Maybe if you drove it to one and asked them to inspect it.

Does the VIN start WDB202028*? :)

HPI also has it as 2199cc, it probably draws upon the same database as the RAC one...please keep us all posted as I for one love a good mystery.

Thought the C220 was a diesel engine?

It says petrol?
There was a 2.2 petrol back then :)

As in the E220.
Yeah I think the only diesel was the C250D, might have been a seriously slow smaller-capacity one too.

You don't have to duck and run Andy.....

If its not the real deal i shant buy it and i'll keep the whale ... its no biggie !

good man :D

hope I'm wrong though, and it is "the real deal"

When i manage to make contact with the guy , i shall look it over very carefully .....

Will check cluster, obviously have a good look under the bonnet .... i reckon i can tell the difference between a 4 and an AMG 6 ...

It does have the correct exhaust (2x square, engraved ) the correct front valance (small AMG chrome badge) .... i imagine that to get a C36 backbox to fit a C220 midsection would require some modification.... so i'll have a peek at that too...

It has the correct wheels (17" AMG - they are engraved AMG )

If it see it plotted up nearby i'll have a shufty at the tax disk too ....

take your camera too... ;)

If it's not a C36, but the exterior work has been done well, it's entirely possible it also has a 3.6 motor (from a wreck, maybe?). What I'm saying is it might tick all the boxes, but still not be a 'proper' C36.

Hopefully AMG can give you a definitive answer....

No....accessory AMG C36 style pipes are available from MB to fit 4 cylinder models.

It must have been marketing/options or popularity at the time but I have seen plenty of fully dressed in C36 clobber prefacelift w202's (that are not C36's) compared to almost no C43 kitted cars. The pre-facelift cars I see I believe are factory orders.

Did it have the ultra rare sports rear seat - moulded as 2 seats not 3?

Anyone got any pics of this?
