George Bush being voted into office is your best example of this scenario.
In the first instance you also need to clarify what you are setting out to prove 'wrong', otherwise you have a major hurdle...

Very few cars can pull it off, im not entirely sure the old skool Merc's can ether. One car can is the orignal Dodge Viper:
Im not sure on these either, they suit some cars, but not sure about a W124..but somehow, Talbir always manages to pull it off so ill have to reserve judgement.
Ive looked at some of the stuff Talbir has bought in the past and though NAhhhh, but then actually on the car it looks good...
Take that TV aerial on his W126 SE for example... actually looks like its supposed to be there even though seperate from the car it looks like its come from an 80's american limo.

SAAB wheels would only work with a dubious bodykit, like WALD or somethin'.
Brabus 3-spokes work really well with proper cars, like a 500E.

I'm sure a set of SAAB wheels sorry Brabus would look great on that Gemballa which supposedly looks like a proper car
Oh and don't bring up the word 'dubious' about bodykits talbir, we've had this discussion about a certain bodykit from you before.

Interesting read, I can see a relationship developing!!!
However when 3 spokes first came out they were the bees knees and even I liked them but as ones taste matures with age they do look out of place in this period of time even if they are retro.

I'm sure I had a set on a tricked up WagonR on Gran Turismo PS1 back in the day.
Looked the dogs..
Fantastic game, it even had scratch'n'sniff cds which smelled of burnt tyre (allegedly)..

One of the main problems with 3 spokes is they have so much open space its easy to see the teeny tiny standard discs and calipers most people leave on, or even worse painted standard calipers.

Not a problem with a 500E which has huge discs and calipers in stock form, especially if you transfer over the SL600 setup.
