Adam - give me a clue on the costs of such work please. You might get a customer.

I've asked if I can share pricing but no response...

To get the best shine the car would need to be corrected. Polishing out all the swirls and marks over a 1 - 3 day period. Rough guide would be under £350 but above £200.

Does make the paint look fantastic though :)

This was when I had it before the MBE shoot. Please note pics are work in progress, highlighted clearly by the masking tape, water marks etc...

I had my C43 detailed the same, took my mate four long evenings. Well worth the end result, looked like new with no swirl marks etc.
Then i Diamond brite'd it 2 stages :thumb:

Beautiful job and car. Probably looks better than when it was new and coming out of the show room :thumb:

If you are prepared to put in the elbow grease and cost, you can get pretty close on DIY. My ladies bought me a Kestrel DAS6 and 6" Sonus pads for Xmas, total cost about £110. I'd already bought the Bilt Hamber regular clay for about £10. The 3M masking tape is a couple of quid.

So, wash and dry car, clay car, wash and dry car - about 1 1/2 hours, £10ish for the BH clay.

Mask off edge areas with 3M blue masking tape.

Now it's down to how much correction is required - either AG 01B hard polish, 02B 2000 grit correction, 03B 1200 grit correction - hours of elbow grease with DAS6. Took me a day to do the C270 estate with 01B.

If you've had to correct with 02 or 03, more elbow grease with polish. The DAS6 makes this easy, about 2 hours for the entire car.

Then more elbow grease with wax - I've used AG HD wax on the C270, Swissvax Onyx on the 968. Another couple of hours.

Or - pay a specialist detailer - up to you!

Adam will be at the GTG doing a couple of demos.

Yep, hoping to get a scrap panel or two to show MBclub members the difference it can achieve and also allow anyone to have a go if they wish!

A lot of people wonder why it costs so much to get a car detailed, but I think you've just proved why by the amount of times you've used "elbow grease" in your post! It's hard work!

Sounds good to me and always looking to save money in these hard times so, as we both live in Kent, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind popping over and giving me a demo on how to do all of the above.
In my experience it is much better to watch someone actually do something rather than read about it and then try it yourself.

Away next week but car wil be available the week after if you are free?:o

Hi Adam;

That car looks gorgeous!

The quote you mentioned; would that include addressing stone chips as well?

If so; time I booked a travel lodge near to your work, methinks ;-)

( I have a silver w211 E280 CDI)

Hello,

Thanks :thumb:

I can touch in stone chips aswell although it would be nearer the higher end of the quote(300-350) as you can imagine it takes a little while to fill all the chips! Would probably be a 2 - 3 day job, cleaning, claying, attending stone chips, polishing, waxing, finishing touches etc...

Olly is litterally 1 minutes drive away so might be worth getting the car checked over while you're down so it's all set for summer. There is a Premier Inn only a 2 minute drive or 5-10 minute walk away, and next to two pubs!

Regards
Adam

Are you coming to the GTG Justin?

Hi Adam,

Glad your looking after my car !!! A great job.

I'm so glad I sold it to Olly, with the combination of yourself and a great garage it could not have gone to a better home.

I really need you to do the CL for me, you would be the only one I would trust, especially after my experience with the last detailer. Speak to you soon.
