On the hunt for a C63...

The 507 does not have the LSD as standard. Is the standard car still better when mapped and diffed?

I thought i just did, better in term of power and comfort of driving, with all those mods.

I own my car outright and do not care about residuals, i am happy with my C63 and dont owm other cars then come back to MB related forums to keep giving opinions about C63 PPP version v standard and slating of owners of C63 as a certain kind.

What year is your car?

A d people don't map PPP cars? My argument wasn't to tell you the PPP is better. The point is, you can try to justify a purchase any way you like. Those who can't stretch to a PPP or 507 will always justify the standard car on the basis that the better car is the cheaper one. Money saved etc. I justified my PPP purchases on the basis that it was rarer, had the bits from factory and would be worth something over the millions of poverty spec lease cars that appeared. I fitted the £1500 quaife to my first PPP C63. Did I notice any great difference? No. I'm not Lewis Hamilton. Will you notice the difference or be able to drive any better as a result of the diff going into your standard car? I'd suggest it's hugely improbable. Placebo is very strong here. If it's not placebo then figures will be a justifying addition to your argument. I've got plenty. As I said, the op should buy what he wants.
There are people that do not want to stretch to PPP or 507, not because they cannot. I have spend more on mods that the difference between PPP or 507 v standard cars and i can say i am happy with what i have done. Thats what modding is for me and i will stand by my choice. Happy to take the hit as and when i decide to sell. No disrespect but your views have been generalising C63 owners and justifying thay ur Alfa is progress and progress keeps progressing whilst tonnes of standard C63s are poverty spec? Wonder why ur PPP C63 with incomplete wrap still remains unsold? I thought its rarer and have worth something over standard and hence should be more desirable?!? Just my 2c

Yeah, it is still unsold. Is it an annoyance? A little maybe.

Reason for it not selling: the wrap obviously. But I like it and the dealer that has it likes it. I'm also glad I didn't get the door shuts done. I won't suffer the additional hassle of arguing about panel gaps and trim alignment if I take it off.

I'm also not desperate to sell and would rather keep ignoring the dealers, Playboy's and 'types' that are ruining the C63 scene. £20k appears to be every aspiring owners target at the moment. Plenty of **** examples out there so I'll hold on 'bruv'.

You get what you pay for in this life. I chuckle when I see owners who went cheap post up that they have niggles on day 1. Or they find that the car has hidden delights or mismatch parts.

I (perhaps wrongly) assumed that my old W211 E55's really twitchy rear end was due to the lack of an LSD. (Disclaimer: its tyres were fine and I'm very aware of the limits of my driving ability.)

The PPP C63 that I drove last weekend felt a lot less tail happy. I (again, perhaps wrongly) assumed that was because it had an LSD. When I drove it I thought that the LSD was part of the PPP. I found out afterwards on here that that isn't the case. So I only have the salesman's word that it had an LSD.

Is the W204 C63 inherently less twitchy than the W211 E55?

See if you can get the VIN to check if the option was installed, should be a specific code on the sheet

If it's not, nice opportunity to knock the price down :)

Power delivery probably has a part to play. The 55 has a fair bit more torque and it comes in a lot earlier. Perfect recipe for unsettling the rear.

Spot on! The dyno doesn't lie, you might as well say (wrapped), red cars are faster. Very happy with my LSD'd stock C63, as I would have been with the 507 I was comparing it to.

There's no need to be so defensive or attacking regarding PPP, PP, 507, Facelift / non-facelift or whatever. All great cars and are now getting to the point that the condition of the particular example found, is most important.

How's the search coming on pal, you bought owt yet?
Not yet, mate. The realisation that 1. I want an FL and 2. my Golf is worth tat all has brought the whole thing grinding to a halt. Also, I've decided that an estate is the way to go and almost everything available from decent traders is a saloon or a coupe.

Until this post I was going to offer looking at my saloon. 2012 with LSD and loads of other nice to haves when you're not hammering around. (MB warranty, HK, rev cam, driver ass package, tracker, blinds, DBA etc - 6k worth of extras so not your usual base car.
I've advertised it at a friend's dealership to avoid the unnecessary noise and annoyingly I cannot advertise it here yet or PM anybody.
There's wiggle room in the price and i'm happy to talk to you more about the car if there's genuine interest.
I'm going (backwards?) to a C350 or E350 as the C63 was bought as the new family car but the better (?) half is struggling (mentally) to drive it.

What colour is it? Saloon?

Can you post a link to the advert? No harm in looking. :)

Don't blame you mate, I much prefer an AMG estate to a saloon where possible, the coupes don't really do much for me I'm afraid.

AMG estates are the ultimate sleepers.

I'd have the saloon if it were the only option but boot space is important for me so it seems a bit daft to sacrifice so much of it if I don't have to. The estate seems to be a rare beast, though, at least in terms of the number coming up for sale compared to saloons and coupes. Was the estate produced in much lower numbers?

Never seen cavansite blue before. Lovely colour.
