Open/close windows with key fob

I had this issue on my c class (c200 sport) 2017 when I bought it in 2020.
I went to my local mb dealer only to be informed that the sport level isn't equipped with it. Pretty mean for this sort of car I thought

Clk has this but you almost have to be within millimetres of the handle for it to work with the fob.
Yep. Not really much uses tbh. Given the fact you have to keep button pressed throughout. Fords ‘global opening/closing’ is a much better feature. Works from a mahoooosive distances aways and once activated you let go of the button. Perfect.

Yeah. My Volvo had it my Lexus had it, hell even my Calibra had it. There are so many things I find this car is missing as I go to use them that was on my S60 as standard. As said only had car just over 2 weeks and beginning to dislike it already.

Maybe like many I have been duped into thinking Mercedes premium brand should have certain things as standard.
Also just found out I cant increase the parking censor volume and the radio doesn't lower automatically, again like my S60 did. :(

Lots of MB have the little 'window' on the drivers handle , often means nothing. On (some) older models if its the same colour as the car its a blanking plate , if it's black it is a sensor for global.

The one on my own 17 year old MB it has been temperamental . I cut it open (as per Youtube videos) and re soldered it , it is still a bit temperamental . I use the 'push and hold' function on the re circulation button on the dash to close windows and sunroof .

The global open/close works on my M340i (with comfort access) from inside the house. Close also works if I keep my finger on the lock sensor on the inside of the door handle. Same was true of my C43 and my previous Focus. Is it just the older cars that need to be in close contact?

If you go into any Merc specialist with the factory diagnostic tools, they should be able to increase the volume as I think they are only set at 80% at the factory. I got mine changed to 100% at my local specialist for £0.

Or your dealer might do it for £many.

Mine works from the other side of the globe through the MB Me app. On older cars Mercedes restricted the operating distance intentionally to be within the IR range. Those cars have both RF and IR connectivity between the key and the car, would not have been any issue to enable operation from distance if they weren't concerned about safety.

To my surprise, I recently learned from this forum that some MB models do not have the convenience feature standard, must be a marketing decision as this feature existed on cars before the remote door locks era.

Is there any way on the Ford version to just open windows part of the way? Of course, you just have to release the button on the not-so-perfect Mercedes version.

And you look like a bit of a wally stood there, pointing ya key at the door handle. 🙄
On my 2012 C350 I can open all the windows and the sunroof by pointing the fob at the driver's door handle from up to about 10 feet away. There have been occasions when the car has been stood out in the sun for several hours (so not too often in the UK!) so it's been handy to stand in the shade whilst opening everything to let the heat out.

But even that wouldn't have been any use when I was working in Saudi Arabia about 35 years ago. On several occasions I hadn't been able to get into the underground carpark so left my car exposed to temperatures well into the 40s. When I left my office I put on a glove to open the car door (no remote), then reached in to start the car which always had the A/C on. Then nip back into the shade of a building to keep an eye on my car while it cooled down to effing hot!

Well your dealer was speaking a load of nonsense because my 2015 sport is equipped with it..
