Washed the B200 over the weekend and it has a number of scratches, mainly around the handles caused I guess either by whatever the previous owner had on their keyring or clumsy hands? Nothing major, but they are there.

The MB dealer will be calling me this week for a "how are you enjoying the car and you will soon be getting a questionnaire" type conversation. You reckon that sorting the scratches is part of the deal, even though it's a used car?

Also, after the initial rush of air freshner has worn away it's obvious that someone smoked in the car (nothing worse than a reformed smoker!!) Any tips for getting rid of the smell traces? Seats are fabric/artico

Re the smoke, you need to change the A/C filter, have all the fabric in the car shampooed, clean the headlining and then have the car treated with an ozone generator while on recirc.

Nothing else works long-term.

I'm sure it will dissipate before too long.

If you had a car that had been smoked in for years then I would agree with the very good advice posted above, but given that a B Class can't be more than a year or so old the smokiness can't be completely ingrained yet!

A few summer journeys with the windows open and judicious use of air fresheners would do it I'm sure. :)

Febreze;)

I'd like to believe you, but reformed smokers ;) tend to be particularly aware of nicotine odour. I fear Gollom will get used to the smell before it goes away; unless remedial action is taken. The actual smoke impregnates into the headlining and very quickly stains. Valeting will very quickly remove the visual stains but it is what gets absorbs that gets to be a pain. I'm sure there are any number of excellent products that can be used.

Good luck with the scratches   and hopefully they will buff out. Shame on the previous owner and respect to you for trying to rectify these minor annoyances. :bannana:

Good luck,
John

Is this a new "scratch and sniff" option that MB are offering:D
