Thank you.I just had a look on ebay there are many red door handles on there for an A Class ranging from £20-£50.
If Merc don't replace then that would be cheaper than painting yours

Positive news.Update. MBUK have contacted MD and my car is going in for a paint assessment on Friday 17 February. A report will then be submitted to MBUK.
Which just shows how owners should not accept the first fob off by companies. Hope you get a good outcome.Update. Inspection completed 17 Feb, have been told report will be submitted to MBUK, roughly 2 weeks and I should hear. Wait and see………..
That's great to hear that MB are going to honour it and clearly repair more than your eye can see.Update 5th June. Dropped car off at Marshall Body Repair Newbury today to have the lacquer peel on the rear spoiler and drivers door handle dealt with, I was wrong to assume it would be with them for about 5 working days. Booked the car in and said how long they said about 3 weeks!!!!!!!. After much discussion it then becomes apparent I had not been informed of the total paint problem, not only repaint the spoiler and door handle that I was fully aware of, in addition the bonnet, roof, both right hand doors and the rear left quarter panel to to be taken to bare metal and repainted, I was told due to blistering, not something I can see at all (and I have been checking the paintwork like a hawk just in case any other lacquer peel surfaced) but I am not disputing their diagnosis. I spoke to the local dealership who arranged the paint inspection with my concern and the lack of communication with me, and now I require a loan car. See what happens, will update when I have more to say. The positive in all of this is Mercedes have acknowledged a problem with Jupiter Red and they are paying 100%.
Marshall Mercedes Chichester provided me with an AClass showing 800 miles the next day, no charge, they have been most helpful. That's great to hear that MB are going to honour it and clearly repair more than your eye can see.
To be honest I wouldn't be delaying it. Loan cars are cheap to hire. Get one and get your car repaired. £500 (at an assumption) for a small loan car for a few weeks with the knowledge your car will be repaired is a small cost to outlay. You could have been looking at a much larger bill once the paint failed on the other areas.
It's still a bit of a strange decision by MB. I would have pressed for a full respray. Leaving some panels not repaired is half measures. What's going to happen when these panels start blistering which is inevitable I would have thought. Those owners of Fire Opal cars got full repaints except for the plastics. Now that MB have in effect admitted faulty manufacture I'd press for more. It's not being greedy, just practical.Update 5th June.
