It's still a bit of a strange decision by MB. I would have pressed for a full respray. Leaving some panels not repaired is half measures. What's going to happen when these panels start blistering which is inevitable I would have thought. Those owners of Fire Opal cars got full repaints except for the plastics. Now that MB have in effect admitted faulty manufacture I'd press for more. It's not being greedy, just practical.
I do agree with you. But my assumption is no evidence of blistering no need to be fixed, as I previously said, to the naked eye I could not see any blemishes on the paintwork apart from the pictures posted of the lacquer peel, that is visible only on plastic parts (the person who inspected I assume uses some special light to identify flaws). I presume Mercedes know what causes the problem, but they are not disclosing, plenty of “ideas why” on forums. But I also consider myself fortunate as lots of people with a similar problem seem to have got nowhere. It’s 6 years old 30k miles, and keeping for the foreseeable future and if anything else appears I will go back. It's still a bit of a strange decision by MB. I would have pressed for a full respray.
