People who dont know what car they own

Ha Ha. I am embarrassed to say that reminded of my very first company car. A brilliant Focus. Ran beautifully for the first 60,000 miles. When it did break down - I was mortified when I could not work out how to open the bonnet.

And even more red faced when the nice chap from the AA simply moved the Ford oval badge to one side to reveal the bonnet lock. Beautiful!!

Many years ago we were in a borrowed A class and pulled up at a filling station.

I went to the filler cap and couldn't figure how to open it as there was no catch or notch. So asked my wife to locate the interior release. No joy. So she starts to thumb the handbook and I notice that another A is pulling up.

So I ask the driver where the release is and he tells me just to push the cover inwards. So I try pushing it and nothing happens. Bemused he comes over and pushes the front of the cover to pivot it out.

Doh!

My wife recently was stuck at lights and a chap in a Lexus next to her with his wife managed to get her attention.

Whats that, is it a AMG model?

Wife. Yes I think so

What engine is in it, my wife has a A160 but never seen one like yours.

Wife. I think its a 2 litre my husband deals with the car things....

_____________

I thought it was funny when she got back and told me.

On a seperate note, anyone tried to find the battery in an A class without reading the manual.

As mentioned above REAL BLOKES don't read the manuals.....trouble is modern cars now have so many gizmos and things we really need to.

I only found out in the forum what the 'rest' feature does so I'm guilty !

Before we bought our ML we had a test drive from a well known MB specialist in the Midlands.

During conversation on the test drive, the salesman said that the CDi engines are not turbo charged. I asked if he was sure, and he said absolutely.

I wasn't reassured given that he's supposed to be an MB specialist, and went elsewhere!!

Another thought. In the late nineties I had a Toyota MR2 SW20, and it really did look a million dollars. Should have kept it.

It never ceased to amaze me how many people had no idea what it was, thinking it was an italian exotic of some description.

It was very popular amongst the laydeez init.

I drove another chap's Mondeo once and adjusted the steering wheel in and out. He was gobsmacked and said he'd had the car for 40,000 miles and not realised that the wheel went in and out as well as up and down. His previous Mondeo had only had the up and down adjustment and he naturally assumed the new one would be the same. He suffered from a bad back caused by the Mondeo's driving position that two minutes reading the manual would have cured

haha - he was wrong on the previous mondeo aswell - all Mondeos since the 1st J reg ones have had rake and reach steering! I've had all varients so can confirm this!

Not once! Shameful, but my attitude to cars has changed a lot in the last 8 years.

My friend bought his twin-turbo supra and didnt have a clue what a turbo was, his reasons for buying it were "Oh i thought all supra's were fast, this one just happened to be slightly cheaper than the other one".

That 'other one' had less mileage, and was the N/A version.

I keep telling him his car is a monster and the other one is completely pants compared to it, but he's still convinced the other one is 'in the same league' as his.

some people just have no clue about their cars!
