Petrol Price

This must mean the Yanks. However although they are moaning about gas prices, they are right now paying only $3 per US gallon.
That is £2 ish at present exchange rates which does not hurt them at all.

I have numerous American friends to whom I always point out the cost here when they start moaning. To be fair, because there is no tax, their percentage increases seem higher, and the money they have saved is probably being spent elsewhere, plus many have much larger commutes because of a lack of public transport. However, I am only really sympathetic to those who have nice cars as there is never a good reason to own an American SUV.

Are you Jeremy Clarkson? Your post certainly reminds me of his 'style'..

I agree about 'green freaks' though, electric is not an answer and the government need to reduce (drastically) the tax on fuel.

hahaha no although his money would not go amiss or his car collection :D

Don't know about beer, but water tends to come in at well under 0.15p per litre. Petrol/diesel are around 1000 times more expensive.

I was on about bottled water not the stuff out of the tap although south west water rates are stupidly expensive :wallbash:

Well, I dread to think how much fuel would cost if it were transported and sold in 1- or 2-litre bottles. ;) Motor oil seems to come in at between £4 and £8 per litre, and that's without the punitive duty element (although I suppose the far higher consumption of fuel might afford some economy of scale to the comparison).

Just seen £1.41 in central Cambridge.

Its going up a penny every 3 days here and noone bats an eyelid.

...too occupied worrying about potential hose pipe bans in the region?

Seriously though, people seem resigned to frequent fuel price increases these days. Desensitisation I think it's called. OPEC, or whoever is responsible have played their cards well.

A horrifying £1.57 for BP diesel in Dunstable yesterday!!! Last time I buy it there.
