Petrol to Diesel price diff

How's about €8/ltr for super back in 2010?

Average diesel price around
Co Antrim £1.34-1.35 petrol only
few pence difference.

Just thinking when it goes up or down 1 or 2 p it doesn’t matter that’s only 50p to a £1 extra on 50 ltrs.
What we require is a 10 or 20p
Minimum drop per ltr .

Over here is France where diesel was previously perhaps 30 cents cheaper than 95 unleaded, today I bought some petrol for my bike and it was only 1 cent more expensive than diesel. The government over here has decided to make diesel unpalatable as part of their 'clean-up of the Universe".

Big diesels are about to see their market values drop through the floor.

I think the government will find it hard to put diesel car drivers off the Rd and over to petrol it will take a new generation and I don’t think it’s here yet. they have been trying for yrs ,

Surely a typo...? Given the regular grades being priced at 1.49 and 1.52. Or do the folk of the Cote d’Azur just buy it anyway at €8 because they can afford it?

I had seen the widening gap for petrol and diesel last weekend when filling up and wondered where it came from (I only fill up approx monthly and not living near a petrol station I don’t pass one from one week to the next).

I filled up at a Shell garage and oddly V-Power was, at 134.9, much cheaper than regular diesel at 1.389!

PetrolPrices is showing premium diesel on motorways as being priced at up to 165.9.

Diesel on M1 J15a services was 155.9 today, premium 165.9! Go figure

South Mimms the other week BP regular was £1.65! i nearly stop in the road to stare at the figure lol luckily i was only filling up the kids tummies and not the cars on the way back from the RAF museum.

motorway fuel is bonkers for quite a while now.
RAC latest on fuel

Latest petrol and diesel prices | RAC Fuel Watch | RAC Drive
Interesting to read the RAC overview. I see in it that there is a 5p reduction in fuel duty for certain islands (Hebrides, Scilly, etc) to ease the pain. That reminded me that until this month the highest price I’d paid for petrol was 134.9 on Islay in 2008. Fuel prices were high then (high oil price) but on the mainland it was around 10p less.

Road tax was included in fuel price in some eu countries. The most I paid was €1.75 few years back in Italy.

Looks like we’ll break new records soon..

Yep, it has crept / shot up in the last year, but its the difference in price that hit me - like many on here, I was used it being 2-3p more than standard 95RON
No even looked at what 'super' diesel is

The price is the price within a penny or two (unless you are dumb enough / unfortunate enough to fill up on a motorway) so there is no point shopping around, just less right foot and keep the tyres up....

What's driving the difference though?
Tax isn't different is it?

PS - Haulage and PSV must be hurting
PPS - Haven't seen what LPG prices are (non around me)

To be fair fuel prices don’t seem too bad to me, I remember it being circa £1.40/£1.50 a litre a good few years back - when I bought my CLK55 back around 2008/09 people were complaining back then. £ for £ is worth less now anyway (inflation) so we’ve got some way to go before the cost of fuel is what is was back then.

Funny thing was that car had lost around £55k in depreciation in the 7 years/70k miles (circa 78p/mile in depreciation alone) before I bought it, which pales fuel costs into insignificance really.

The sub-£10k C63s will be coming soon! :)

LPG is still 55-65p a litre approx - sometimes cheaper :D

Paid 149.9 per ltr for Shell Super V diesel on M50 a couple of weeks ago

Not surprised that people take a chance on using Red diesel.

£1.489 per litre here yesterday for V-Power diesel :(

Surely Sans Pb98 is Super unleaded, maybe 8 Euro SUPER is just for the stupid English?

Cheapest diesel around here is 129.9 at the moment at a BP station with petrol being 5p a litre cheaper. Generally it can be anywhere up to 137.9 in other nearby stations for diesel, so quite a wide range just in the local area.

We should all move to Canada, we were paying 1.13CAD last month which is about 67p a litre

Or was it that SUPER was high octane leaded fuel? For all those exotic classics one sees around Monaco ...
