Pillar post trim

Try something like ScratchX then finish with sealant of some kind. Be careful though with the polish as I think I can see that the lacquer is starting to fail.

Usually caused by chemicals at car washes. The chemicals they use are very harsh.

I have just replaced all my offside gloss black trim pieces at a very high cost. They are not cheap

No surprise that they're not cheap!
 
A small spot polishing pad on a cordless drill and some compound will probably polish that up, not really got anything to lose if replacement is the only other option :cool:

With the issues surrounding PPF, that might be more trouble.
Sorry for the OT, but it seems the OP has sorted the issue out: What issues surrounding PPF?

Someone on another forum mentioned about me needing to inform my insurance because there is a PPF section in front of each rear wheel arch on my Alfa Mito, but then another confirmed it was factory fit and not necessary to inform them.
