Planned your 2017 road trip(s)yet?

The roads looked good on Top Gear. Were you in the ML63?

Hi,
Yes we used the ML63 - as you aren't allowed to drive up the mountain road unless you have a 4x4.
The police checkpoint at the bottom of the mountain road checks each vehicle and looks at your car, insurance documents, vehicle registration card and drivers licence.
The road is immaculate but very steep!

Try to stop at the Millau services on the motorway and then take a walk up the big hill (easy to find) for a fantastic panoramic view of the bridge

The toilet at millau services are appalling. Old fashioned squat!!

Avoid this and go down to the valley and look up at the bridge for the best view

Incredible car, great hotel, stunning scenery. Life doesn't get much better

Don't know where you've been but the main services with the visitor centre has excellent facilities

Taken from here The Millau viaduct - A75 motorway bridge over the river Tarn

The toll booths are located a couple of kilometres north of the viaduct; just before the northern end of the viaduct, there is a large motorway rest area, offering spectacular views of the viaduct, as well as a visitor centre with information on the bridge and its building. For the best photo opportunities, arrive at the bridge shortly after sunrise in the Autumn, when the bridge frequently floats above the overnight mists that have formed in the valley below.

Glad to hear it's improved. I was there 4 years ago.

But then you do say you live in cloud cuckoo land:D

My girl friend keeps going on about the Ring.

Strange.

I didn't think that she liked fast cars...

I've just ordered one, but I don't think I'll actually need it. I just hope it arrives much more quickly than the 6 weeks I've read about!

We'll pass through Lyon on the A6 and A7, and whilst Lyon is participating in this Crit'Air scheme it seems the A6 and A7 are both excluded, and so the sticker is not actually required as long as you stay on the motorway.

However having once got off the A6 and driven through Lyon city centre to avoid a long tailback resulting from an accident, I thought it best to get one, just in case. I don't plan to drive through Lyon, it was a nightmare even with COMAND!

It will also come in handy if we decide to pass through Grenoble on our way home, after driving Route Napolean.

Ordered on Friday, arrived the following Thursday :thumb:

A bit closer to home but I was planning on driving some of this when the better weather arrives:
North Coast 500 - Home

Looks ace

Not finished adding hotels but the basic planning has been done for a 2-3 week tour in Northern Italy.

Stopping at medieval Colmar and Lake Luzern on the way down to 3 days on Lake Como, then Tuscany, Umbria up across the passes to Germany with a stop at the MB factory at Sindelfingen and museum at Stuttgart, before heading back north.

I'm picking up an open top car tomorrow, and this is the trip that's planned for this summer. There's a few places in the UK that we'd like to go to - some we have never been to, others are old favourites.

If anyone lives local to any of these places, and fancies joining us for a pint at any of the pubs in bold type - despite my being a BMW driver - just drop me a PM.

Stopping at medieval Colmar...
If you have time while you're in the Colmar area, the Schlumpf Collection at Mulhouse is well worth a look.
