Almost at the 1/3 of target mark. Having some amazing responses. Thank you guys for your support and kind wishes.

On another side some people out there in the great unwashed public can be right pigs. Trying to wonder what some people get from racist and vile comments to Jess. Luckily she just shrugs her shoulders and pretends she's not hurt. Not as though she has much to contend with at the moment.

Once again to members of what is without doubt the best forum out there. Many thanks.

Great news, I should imagine Jess is thrilled.

A lot of angry, insecure and weak people around - fit only for picking on those they perceive as weaker. The govt. doesn't do enough to counter this type of thing.

It may be worth contacting some of the larger retailers in your area. Matalan, Morrisons, John Lewis , etc. Many of them have collection boxes at their tills , usually for one week. They sometimes also collect at several stores within a region. I know that Matalan raised over £1000 in donations for a local charity in just one week , last year.
You might also consider holding a charity ball , and seeking sponsors. Businesses, football/ rugby clubs etc can provide good prices for auction/raffle. We held one in january which raised £20,000. There are unfortunately some up front fees to be paid, ie venue etc, but this can be covered by tickets paid in advance. I wish the young lady well.

Thanks for the suggestion. Her old school friends are holding a black tie dinner in Swindon at the end of July. Two schools have held cake sales etc. We are nearly at £60k so feeling more optimistic.

Thanks to everyone.

Latest news is that we have raised almost £70,000 with another £15,000 pledged. One good thing to come out of this is Jessica's local community have used this as an excuse to foster community relations and this weekend they are holding a community fair to further raise funds.
Jess is holding a video conference with the surgeon at the end of the month and will be discussing time frames and payment options.
So what appeared hopeless has come round and I can now see this as a doer.
Once again many thanks to all.

Just topped £106k. Only problem is the surgery and hospital care costs $170,000 and the falling pound means we need to raise more. Airfares. Accom etc. But we have many things going and I'm confident we can raise the monies. Thanks once again.

Graham
