Hi ive bought a 1996 w124 E220 Estate.
Rough dog, cheap, was told it was running great and driving 100%.
Been parked up a few years etc.
Cost me £350
Got it trasported home (120 mile) £120

Now in daylight i can see its had a front end collision and been badly repaired, the srs light is on in the dash. The engines starts with a new battery. 100% but an attempt to conseal oil in the expansion tank was made. Looks like the head is gone.

Now im skint and desperate!! It has the boot seats for the kids. All the elecs work, climate, sunroof etc. etc.

How can i maximise my losses by breaking the car or any one fancy a cheap fixerupper ?

Car is based in Northern Ireland.

Please help

If you want to maximise your losses you could just send me some money if you like.

How much are you able to send? :D

On a serious note, I dont think you'll be much out of pocket be selling a few of the more valuable bits on ebay and then weighing it whats left at the local scrappies.

Reasonable 8 hole alloys with part worn tyres could get as much as 200 Euros on their own. The registration number also has value here on the mainland.

reg is useless as cars need to be mot'd to transfer regs. the 5 alloys are in decent condition. the cargo cover, dog guard etc are making decent money ? weighing in the car as is getting £250 from local scrappies.

Any body on the forum local to N.Ireland ? or know local merc breakers that would give decent ££ for a whole car!

By the look of the wheels, I don't think they are a matching set.

But if you have the time to break the car yourself you should able to get £1k+

break it

Wouldn't know where to start or have the time or space!

Try Auto Benz in Crumlin - they are a Mercedes breakers. The car can't have been parked up that long as it has been re-registered fairly recently (KIG).

At least you know in future not to buy a car under the cover of darkness.
