Hi all,

I have the C220cdi coupe, 2003 with 56k miles.

On Wednesday last week my girlfriend came home at 07:15 after an 8mile drive and parked the car as normal. I got in half an hour later and it would not start. Just turning over. I kept trying until the point the battery was loosing charge. The next day I was loaned a booster pack from my local garage and tried again. Same result, engine was turning over strong but not starting.

Anyway, Friday I had the vehicle recovered to a diesel specialist and they have today told me that one injector is duff and two are 'on there way' and to replace the 4 is £800 inc. VAT

Car has full service history and never had any problems.

Does this sound right ? I would have thought injectors would last much longer than this. also is the price about right ?

any info would be great.

Thanks.

Hang on for a minute. My 220cdi has EXACTLY the same problems and has been in an MB dealership now for 3 weeks. My wallet has been emptied by £900 and on repeated occaisons when I drive it home having been "fixed" again, it refuses to restart. I am at my wits end!!!
I've had the Injectors checked, Fuel regulator changed, FUEL RAIL changed and crankshaft position sensor changed. Dealership say they WERE faulty but car still won't start!!!
NOTE:- When I recharge the battery FULLY (13 volts) the car almost always restarts IMMEDIATELY, not after 2 or 3 turns. This means (to me) that the problem is NOT fuel/rail-pressure/injector/ related but a faulty switch/relay/sensor somewhere, which is just not making good contact, but when presented with a fully charged battery voltage, the voltage bridges the dirt/corrosion. This shouldn't be rocket science - but I'm planning going to an autoelectrician next, as I can't afford another visit to an authorised dealership.
What's happened to mechanics who used to diagnose problems, and not just replace modules.
This sounds like a tricky problem but used to be the bread & butter of technicians.
HELP!!
