The diesel in the B is awful and so she will get a petrol this time.

I had a B200cdi with the CVT box. Excellent. I found it much nicer to drive than the petrols. Quiet at cruising speeds (only 2,000 revs at 80), lots of torque and 0-62 in under 10 seconds. And up to 50 mpg if careful. Good enough for most uses.
