I saw TV's SL500 in a threat and spotted his v.nice steering wheel. I'd like a wooden one on my W211

Is this a good idea, will I need to inform my insurers of such a cheeky little mod. My car has a pale gray interior, will this look silly?

I the current surface too grippy and as such its hard to feed the steering wheel through the hands (using the pull push method as per IAM-some of you will know what I mean). This may work better for me?

Sooner or later you'll find a genuine one in the right colour for sale on ebay in england.

Someone is going to have problems with that wheel. The Air bag carrier is missing and I can tell from the photo that you are not going to be able to get one. I spent all last week and went though 4 wheels trying to find the correct carrier. (ask lomo) The 202's have studs in the wheel to bolt the carrier to, as do the 124's and 140's. This one has internal threads, which means that it takes the shallower carrier. It is not an Mb part (I tried the dealers). Bid with extreme caution and make sure that the seller includes the carrier.

The late ones don't have carriers.

Here's a better photo of a 211/219 wheel, a whole world apart from 202/124/140 land.

Taking the original link and yours. The carrier / gubbins is still missing on the eBay link. But thanks for the info, I didn't know that.

I may raise this mod at the $teallers when I'm in for a B service. I really want the dark wooden bits.

Will I will be able to feed it through my hands effectively rather than "grab" at my steering wheel I have at the moment which has a "sticky" feel to it?

I have something similar on mine, although the wood is not as dark. The back of the wheel is knobbly, makes it easier to hold. Oh, and it is not as slick as it appears, it has a nice tactile feel to it.
Hope that helps.
