On Monday my translator and I (Ray)went to the "Wheel Doctor" in Leeds (have had the passport stamped) to see about repairing one of my alloys. They dont seem to be able to repair the rim although they claim to be able to remove the curbing. So, I have left my wheel for them to play with. Having it powder coated Chrome Black. The cost £50 + Vat. Will let you know how it progresses. I am not too hopefull

Wouldn't you be able to buy a second hand rim for £50?

Also if they can't repair the rim what is the point of having the kerbing removed?

I would be interested to see the result of the black chrome, please post pics compared to the other rims.

regards

I have been trying to find just one 16 inch ET 40 rim but they seem like rocking hores manure. The whole point of doing it to a bad rim is to see what they can do. I dont think there is much point in saying to the Forum Members that Company X does a good / bad job untill you have the evidence. Pics, well of course, wouldnt be a proper job without the pics would it Brian :D

Just an update

Been over a week now, phoned them this morning and I get the impression from the call that they hadnt started it yet, not looking good. They promised a return call this afternoon, so far nothing.

Today I went and collected the wheels. DO NOT DEAL with this company. ( www.wheel-doctor.co.uk ) Cr@p finish and to cap it all they LOST my tyres!! Will post pics and edit this post when I have calmed down a little.

Edit > Now that I am calmer I have enclosed pics of before and after. Including the tyre that they bought me, after much insistance. The job they did was definatley a poor job. After 4 weeks I thought that they would have at least met my expectations. I do like the color although I would think that it may not suit everyone. Faults? one rim is slightly lighter than the others and the grit had not been removed properly before powder coating as there are a few "pimples" on the faces. It very much looks like I will have to have them done again in the new year as I am not 100% happy with them. Have other tyres ordered from mytyres, just waiting now for them to arrive. I am off to the stealers for some new centres at weekend, I quite fancy the ones with the blue border. The infills between the star are going to be painted the same color as the wheels. I will naturally post pics of them when complete.
